Background: Colloid cysts account for approximately 1% of all intracranial tumors and are the most common type of the neuroepithelial cysts. They are benign, that most commonly occur in the third ventricle near the Monro foramen. Sometimes they have no specific sings and symptoms and may be confused and misdiagnosed with other pathology of nervous systems, but sometimes they may produce acute hydrocephalus, brain herniation, and lead to death.

In 2018, a case of neural disease suspected of listeriosis was reported in a flock of sheep in Kosovo with the death of ewes and 5 lambs. Samples from the brain of only three dead animals were subjected to histopathological and bacteriological analysis. MALDI-TOF MS was applied to confirm suspected Listeria spp.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the measures brought for prevention of infections are associated with considerable psychosocial and psychological morbidity in the general population. Providing continuous mental health services during the pandemics is a challenge worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This paper reports on the strategies and activities taken to protect public mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic in Kosovo.

Upon entering into the biological environments, the surface of the nanoparticles is immediately coated with proteins and form the so-called a protein corona due to which a nanoparticle changes its "synthetic" identity to a new "biological" identity. Different types of nanoparticles have different protein binding profiles, which is why they have different protein corona composition and therefore it cannot be said that there is a universal protein corona. The composition and amount of protein in the corona depends on the physical and chemical characteristics of the nanoparticles, the type of biological medium and the exposure time.

Hamstring injuries remain the most common injury type across many professional sports. Despite a variety of intervention strategies, its incidence in soccer players playing in the UEFA Champions League has increased by 4% per year over the last decade. Test batteries trying to identify potential risk factors have produced inconclusive results.

This study was conducted to assess the presence of West Nile virus (WNV) in Kosovo by serological testing of apparently healthy local horses and free-range chicken, and it attempted to detect viral nucleic acid in birds and mosquitoes. Between January 2018 and June 2019, 260 equine serum samples were collected, additionally 580 adult mosquitoes (53 pools) were grouped in for genera, including spp. (226 individuals; 26 pools), spp.

The research evidence shows that war had many detrimental effects on the mental health, wellbeing, and social functioning of the people of Kosova, which is similar to the findings in many other postconflict societies. However, there are few studies focusing on the process of meaning-making of war experiences and their impacts on resilience and growth. This phenomenological study aimed to explore the lived war experiences of citizens of Kosova from the perspectives of three generations (grandparents, parents and children) through semistructured interviews, which were conducted with 37 participants.

Canine vector-borne pathogens are a group of widespread microorganisms and nematodes transmitted by arthropods that do not only impact dog health but may also pose a health risk to humans as many of them are zoonotic. As no data exist on the presence of canine vector-borne pathogens in Kosovo, we here present a first study on the seroprevalence of selected vector-borne pathogens, the dog heartworm Dirofilaria immitis and the bacteria Anaplasma spp., Ehrlichia spp.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant worldwide social and life-threatening epidemiological problem. Because this disease requires multiple drug treatment and prolonged therapy for several months, followed by a high probability of adverse effects (AEs), we assessed AE monitoring for anti-TB drugs in the Health Care System of Kosova.
Methods: This survey was a cross-sectional analysis performed at the primary, secondary and tertiary health care levels in Kosova.

Background And Aim: Treatment of patients with left main coronary artery disease (LMCA) with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) remains controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to compare the long-term clinical outcomes of patients with unprotected LMCA treated randomly by PCI or CABG.

Cancer is a genomic disease associated with accumulation of genetic damage. Cancer-initiating events, such as chromosome breakage, loss and rearrangement, can be used as biomarkers to evaluate individual cancer risk. Cytokinesis-block micronucleus cytome (CBMN - Cyt) assay parameters in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) of thirty four patients diagnosed with high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) and fifteen healthy women were measured.

Finding novel strategies for surface modification is of great interest in electrochemistry and material sciences. In this study, we present a strategy for modification of a gold electrode through covalent attachment of triazole (TA) groups. Triazole groups were electrochemically grafted at the surface of the electrode by a reduction of in situ generated triazolediazonium cations.

Two capillary electrophoresis (CE) methods have been developed for the separation of charge and mass variants of human insulin and its recombinant analogue lispro. Since the capillary zone (CZE) and Capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE) are based on different principles of separation, they can be used to detect different impurities of insulin and its analogues. Application of CZE enabled a separation of compounds with different m/z ratio, therefore CZE is a suitable method for the separation of deamidation products of insulin.

Background: Alpine alder vegetation acts upon the nearby grass and dwarf shrub vegetation by the nitrogen supply from the symbiotic bacteria Frankia alni of Alnus viridis. This has been studied in two transects concerning plant distribution, plant diversity, nitrate concentration in soil and photosynthetic performance of specific marker plants.
Results: Away from the alder stand, a band of some meters was dominated by Calamagrostis varia which then was followed by alpine dwarf shrub vegetation.

In the present study, eight plant species belonging to Lamiaceae family were identified as ingredients for herbal teas in the region of Sharri Mountains: , , , , , , and respectively. Chemical composition of essential oils obtained from these species was analyzed using GC-MS and GC-FID with the aim of examining their volatile compound profiles, responsible for their respective flavors and fragrance. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was performed with the aim of grouping plant species under study on the basis of their chemical composition.

Introduction: It has recently been demonstrated that there is a very high prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among hemodialysis patients in Kosovo with HCV subtype 1 being the most prevalent subtype. In this study, we further detail the molecular epidemiology of HCV outbreaks occurring in seven dialysis centers in Kosovo.
Methodology: In total, 273 samples obtained from HCV RNA positive patients undergoing hemodialysis at one of the seven centers in Kosovo were selected for this study: 171 subtype 1a samples, 91 subtype 4d samples, and 11 subtype 1b samples.
