The youth football injury prevention program 'FUNBALL' contains exercises requiring high cognitive demands, which are performed concurrently to the training of the respective motor task. This study evaluates whether the program increases cognitive performances of young football players. 1253 football players (aged 13-19 years old) were randomly assigned to either a control (CON) or an intervention (INT) group.

Mental health awareness, stigma, and help-seeking attitudes among Albanian university students in the Western Balkans: a qualitative study.

Introduction: The significance of mental health and its impact on overall well-being is increasingly acknowledged across various sectors, including higher education. However, despite this growing recognition, the stigma associated with mental health issues and related help-seeking, particularly within certain cultural groups and socio-economic contexts, continues to pose a formidable barrier to effective care, especially among university students. Addressing these challenges, this study explores the intricate interplay of factors affecting mental health awareness and stigma, including help-seeking behaviors among Albanian university students in three Western Balkan countries: Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Albania.

Local Regulatory Changes of HSD11B1 and NR3C1 in the Follicular and Luteal Tissue During Experimentally Induced Ovulation in the Cow.

The objective of the study was to characterise the expression patterns of the two key components of cortisol action namely HSD11B1 (11-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1) and NR3C1 (nuclear receptor subfamily 3, group C, member 1, also known as the glucocorticoid receptor) in superovulation induced bovine follicles during the periovulation and subsequent corpus luteum (CL) formation. Bovine ovaries containing preovulatory follicles or CL were timely defined during induced ovulation as follows: 0 h before GnRH (Gonadotropin-releasing hormone) application, and 4, 10, 20, 25 (follicles) and 60 h (early CL) after GnRH. The low mRNA expression of HSD11B1 and NR3C1 in the follicle group before the GnRH application increased significantly in the follicle group 20 h after GnRH and remained high afterward also in the early CL group.

According to the European Union (EU) Directive 2005/36, the medical specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) exists with two possible formats: dual degree OMFS called Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DOMFS) - basic medical and basic dental training and single medical degree Maxillofacial Surgery (MFS). Within the EU and across all of Europe, differences in the nature and quality of OMFS training coexist. By implementing the highest possible standards of training, patient care can be improved.

A rare clinical presentation of pedunculated superficial angiomyxoma in the anal canal: A case report.

Superficial angiomyxoma is an infrequent benign soft tissue tumor, clinically presented as slow-growing, painless cutaneous, or subcutaneous mass. It is mostly described in middle aged population with preference location in trunk, head, neck, and genitalia. Herein, we report a rare growth variant of a solitary superficial angiomyxoma with uncommon site of occurrence in a 39-year-old female.

Reliable gene expression analysis in bone remodeling studies requires an appropriate selection of internal controls, stable reference genes for the normalization of quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR), the most common method used for quantifying gene expression measurements. Even the most widely used reference genes can have variable expression under different experimental conditions, or in different tissue types or treatment regimes, so selecting appropriate controls is a key step in ensuring reliable results. The aim of this research was to identify the most stable reference gene(s) for the study of olanzapine modulated bone remodeling in rats.

Mental health landscape in Kosova from 2017 to 2022: A retrospective study of antidepressant and anxiolytic market trends and the impact of COVID-19.

Objectives: This study explores the mental health situation in Kosova and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Marketed quantities of antidepressants (N06A) and anxiolytics (N05B) from 2017 to 2022 were analyzed using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical/Defined Daily Doses (ATC/DDD) methodology. Caution is advised as these quantities may not directly reflect patient usage and could include uses for conditions outside their primary indications.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) has the capability to analyze vast amounts of data and has been applied in various healthcare sectors. However, its effectiveness in aiding pharmacotherapy decision-making remains uncertain due to the intricate, patient-specific, and dynamic nature of this field.

Objective: This study sought to investigate the potential of AI in guiding pharmacotherapy decisions using clinical data such as diagnoses, laboratory results, and vital signs obtained from routine patient care.

Optimising HIV spending in 12 eastern European and central Asian countries: a modelling study.

Background: The eastern European and central Asian (EECA) region has the fastest growing HIV epidemic globally. We aimed to identify how HIV resources could be allocated for maximum health impact.

Methods: Between Aug 1 and Dec 23, 2022, allocative efficiency analyses were undertaken for 12 countries in the EECA region (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Serbia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) using HIV epidemic models developed with Optima HIV.

Trust in government moderates the association between fear of COVID-19 as well as empathic concern and preventive behaviour.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, behavioural scientists aimed to illuminate reasons why people comply with (or not) large-scale cooperative activities. Here we investigated the motives that underlie support for COVID-19 preventive behaviours in a sample of 12,758 individuals from 34 countries. We hypothesized that the associations of empathic prosocial concern and fear of disease with support towards preventive COVID-19 behaviours would be moderated by trust in the government.

New solvated Mo(VI) complexes of isatin based asymmetric bisthiocarbohydrazones as potent bioactive agent: synthesis, DFT-molecular docking studies, biological activity evaluation and crystal structures.

New solvated Mo(VI) complexes were isolated from the reaction of [MoO(acac)] with asymmetric isatin bisthiocarbohydrazone ligands. The ligands were obtained from the reaction of isatin monothiocarbohydrazone with 3,5-dibromo salicylaldehyde (L1), 3,5-dichloro salicylaldehyde (L2) and 3-chloro-5-bromo salicylaldehyde (L3), respectively. In the complexes, the ligands serve as ONS donors and coordinate to the [MoO] nucleus.

High-Risk HPV Screening Initiative in Kosovo-A Way to Optimize HPV Vaccination for Cervical Cancer.

Nearly all cervical cancers are caused by persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection. There are 14 recognized hrHPV genotypes (HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68), and hrHPV genotypes 16 and 18 comprise approximately 66% of all cases worldwide. An additional 15% of cervical cancers are caused by hrHPV genotypes 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

Assessing the validity of maternal report on breastfeeding counselling in Kosovo's primary health facilities.

Background: Improving the quality of breastfeeding counselling delivered by primary care providers can improve breastfeeding outcomes and ultimately reduce mortality and morbidity of children and mothers. Accurate data on coverage and quality of primary care breastfeeding counselling is essential for monitoring progress; however, global and national indicators are limited. To help address this gap, this study validated indicators of receipt and quality of breastfeeding counselling during routine consultations for infant care at seven primary health facilities across Kosovo.
