Case: We report a case of coccygeal dislocation complicated by defecatory dysfunction and discuss its treatment and mechanisms. A 58-year-old man was presented with coccygeal pain and defecatory dysfunction after sustaining an injury from a 1-m fall. Following diagnosis, a combined approach involving surgical treatment and physiotherapy was adopted, resulting in early symptom improvement and favorable long-term outcomes.

Introduction: An increased incidence of metabolic syndrome has been observed in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals. In contrast, gut dysbiosis is involved in various pathogeneses, including vascular endothelial disorders. Organic acids, including short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), are essential for maintaining gut homeostasis.

We report two cases of chronic portal vein occlusion with jejunal varices successfully treated using percutaneous intervention with a combined transhepatic and transsplenic approach. Case 1 was a 60-year-old man with uncontrolled jejunal variceal bleeding, and case 2 was a 79-year-old man with anastomotic jejunal variceal bleeding and cholangitis. Single access via the transhepatic or transsplenic route failed to allow catheter advancement through the occlusion.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAims: Relationship between baseline eGFR and the rate of decline in eGFR was investigated in diabetic kidney disease.
Materials And Methods: Patients with type 2 diabetes with microalbuminuria (MI) ( = 124) or macroalbuminuria (MA) ( = 81) received team-based medical care to prevent the development of diabetic kidney disease. The decline in eGFR over 4 years, divided into the first year and subsequent 3 years, was estimated by linear-mixed modeling.

Acute-type lateral ridge defects (25 mm × 6 mm × 5 mm) were bilaterally created in the mandibles of four dogs (two defects per animal). The defects were reconstructed with particulate autologous bone and covered with a microperforated titanium membrane (Ti-honeycomb membrane, TiHM) or an existing conventional titanium mesh as control. The samples were dissected after 16 weeks postoperatively and processed for radiographic, histologic, and histomorphometric analyses.

A 28-year-old man with a history of coil embolization of multiple pulmonary arteriovenous malformations presented with hemoptysis 11 years after initial embolization. A cavity lesion in the left upper lobe, which was accompanied by deformed coils and ground-glass opacity, was considered responsible for hemoptysis. Embolization of the bronchial artery was performed.

Background: Evaluation of brain β-amyloid by positron emission tomography (PET) imaging can assist in the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease (AD) and other dementias.
Methods: Open-label, nonrandomized, multicenter, phase 3 study to validate the (18)F-labeled β-amyloid tracer florbetaben by comparing in vivo PET imaging with post-mortem histopathology.
Results: Brain images and tissue from 74 deceased subjects (of 216 trial participants) were analyzed.

Background And Objective: Aspirin, clopidogrel, cilostazol, and statins are thought to reduce the risk of cerebral infarction in patients with intracranial arterial stenosis. We present a case of multiple intracranial arterial stenoses in which increased cerebral blood flow (CBF) was demonstrated after long-term medical therapy.
Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man with a history of cerebral infarction showed complete occlusion of the left internal carotid artery with severe stenoses in the A1 segment of the left anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and the left posterior communicating artery resulting in poor visualization of the left middle cerebral artery (MCA) on magnetic resonance angiography (MRA).

Successful repair of left ventricular (LV) pseudoaneurysm after mitral valve replacement (MVR) is uncommon, with delayed onset showing particularly high mortality. We report a case of delayed LV pseudoaneurysm onset after MVR reoperation. The patient had unique clinical symptoms, including coronary ischemia due to compression of the left main coronary artery by the aneurysm.
