Background: Docking the scope and instruments through a multi-channel trocar has enabled reduced-port robotic distal gastrectomy (RRDG) for gastric cancer. To facilitate lymphadenectomy over the anatomical hindrances during RRDG, we recently introduced the Vessel Sealer Extend (VSE) (Intuitive Surgical, Sunnyvale, CA, USA), a bipolar vessel-sealing device (BVSD) with an articulating jaw.
Methods: From May 2020 to August 2023, we performed RRDG to treat T1 gastric cancer.

Situs inversus totalis (SIT) is a rare anatomical condition, where all the viscera appear in its reverse position. Although minimally invasive surgery has evolved to achieve totally laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer patients with SIT, it is difficult to perform lymphadenectomy in such a transposed anatomical condition. Recently, we performed a single-port laparoscopic total gastrectomy (SPTG) for gastric cancer in a patient with SIT.

Background: Leakage from the pancreatoenteric anastomosis has been one of the major complications of pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of retrograde installation of percutaneous transhepatic negative-pressure biliary drainage (RPTNBD), as part of which the drainage tube is intraoperatively inserted into the bile duct and afferent loop by surgical guidance to reduce pancreaticoenteric leakage after PD.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the patients who underwent pylorus-preserving PD or Whipple's operation for a malignant disease between June 2012 and August 2016.

Study Objectives: A recent study of patients with moderate-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in Iceland identified three clinical clusters based on symptoms and comorbidities. We sought to verify this finding in a new cohort in Iceland and examine the generalizability of OSA clusters in an international ethnically diverse cohort.
Methods: Using data on 972 patients with moderate-severe OSA (apnea-hypopnea index [AHI] ≥ 15 events per hour) recruited from the Sleep Apnea Global Interdisciplinary Consortium (SAGIC), we performed a latent class analysis of 18 self-reported symptom variables, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

Chemotherapy-related cardiac dysfunction (CRCD) has challenged clinicians to hesitate in using cardiotoxic agents such as anthracycline and several protein kinase inhibitors. As early detection of CRCD and timely cessation of cardiotoxic agents became a strategy to avoid CRCD, cardiac troponin and natriuretic peptide are measured to monitor cardiotoxicity; however, there are inconsistencies in their predictability of CRCD. Alternative biomarkers have been researched extensively for potential use as more sensitive and accurate biomarkers.

Tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC), remains one of the leading causes of death in the world. In Korea, the current prevalence of multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) poses a major problem. The most common method for diagnosing TB in developing countries is sputum smear microscopy; however, the sensitivity of this test is relatively low and it usually requires well-trained laboratory staff.
