Aims: Steatosis reducing effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) has been consistently reported in humans, but their mechanism remains uncertain. In this study, we examined the expression of SGLT2 in human livers and investigated the crosstalk between SGLT2 inhibition and hepatic glucose uptake, intracellular O-GlcNAcylation, and autophagic regulation in NASH.

Currently, there are three major assaying methods used to validate in vitro whitening activity from natural products: methods using mushroom tyrosinase, human tyrosinase, and dopachrome tautomerase (or tyrosinase-related protein-2, TRP-2). Whitening agent development consists of two ways, melanin synthesis inhibition in melanocytes and downregulation of melanocyte stimulation. For melanin levels, the melanocyte cell line has been used to examine melanin synthesis with the expression levels of TRP-1 and TRP-2.

Platelet-derived growth factor type BB (PDGF-BB) regulates vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) migration and proliferation, which play critical roles in the development of vascular conditions. p90 ribosomal S6 kinase (p90RSK) can regulate various cellular processes through many different target substrates in several cell types, but the regulatory function of p90RSK on PDGF-BB-mediated cell migration and proliferation and subsequent vascular neointima formation has not yet been extensively examined. Cultured human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) grow as colonies that require breakdown into small clumps for further propagation. Although cell death mechanism by single-cell dissociation of hPSCs has been well defined, how hPSCs respond to the deadly stimulus and recover the original status remains unclear.
