Introduction: Left atrium (LA) mechanical functions and atrial electromechanical delay (AEMD) times were considered independent predictors of cardiovascular morbidity in general population. Data are scant about these parameters in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients receiving hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD). We aimed to evaluate AEMD times and LA mechanical functions and associated risk factors in HD and PD patients.

Introduction: The femoral and humeral heads are among the most common sites of osteonecrosis. The aims of this case report was to report three years' results for sequential treatment of bilateral, concomitant involvement of humeral and femoral heads with focal anatomic resurfacing implantation in a single patient with Hodgkin's lymphoma and to review the relevant literature, which is relatively scarce.
Presentation Of Case: We present a 48-year-old male patient with concomitant, bilateral femoral and humeral head avascular necrosis.

Background: Atrial electromechanical delay (AEMD) times were considered independent predictors of cardiovascular morbidity among the general population. We aimed at evaluating AEMD times and other risk factors associated with 2-year combined cardiovascular (CV) events in HD patients.
Material And Methods: Sixty hemodialysis (HD) and 44 healthy individuals were enrolled in this prospective study.

Background/objective: Elevated pulse wave velocity (PWV) and central aortic blood pressures are independent predictors of increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Oxalic acid is a uremic retention molecule that is extensively studied in the pathogenesis of calcium oxalate stones. Oxalobacter formigenes, a member of the colon microbiota, has important roles in oxalate homeostasis.

Studies on genetic changes underlying prostate cancer and the possible signaling pathways are getting increased day by day, and new treatment methods are being searched for. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of ferulic acid (FA), a phenolic compound, on cell cycle, apoptosis, invasion, and colony formation in the PC-3 and LNCaP prostate cancer cells. The effect of FA on cell viability was determined via a 2,3-bis-(2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium-5-carboxanilide (XTT) method.

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to identify psychopathology, parental attitudes, perceptions of quality of life, and relationships between these factors in adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM).
Methods: Fifty adolescents (12-18 years old) with type 1 diabetes mellitus and 50 healthy adolescents and their parents were recruited for the study. Clinical interviews with the diabetic adolescents were performed using "Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL).

Background: Thyroid hormone has been shown to control retinal cone opsin expression, the protein of color vision, in adult rodents.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of hypothyroidism on color contrast sensitivity in adult overt hypothyroid patients.
Methods: Thirty-eight overt hypothyroid (31 females, 7 males) subjects and 20 euthyroid (16 females, 4 males) controls were studied prospectively.

Background: The optimal treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head has not been established yet. The aim of this study was to report preliminary clinical results of focal anatomic-resurfacing implantation for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
Methods: Five patients (four male, one female) with seven surgical procedures, ages between 37 and 52 with an average age of 45.

Background: Mutations in dedicator of cytokinesis 8 (DOCK8) cause a combined immunodeficiency (CID) also classified as autosomal recessive (AR) hyper-IgE syndrome (HIES). Recognizing patients with CID/HIES is of clinical importance because of the difference in prognosis and management.
Objectives: We sought to define the clinical features that distinguish DOCK8 deficiency from other forms of HIES and CIDs, study the mutational spectrum of DOCK8 deficiency, and report on the frequency of specific clinical findings.

Background: This study was planned to analyze the internal and external anatomical findings of cardiac injuries and the presence of accompanying pulmonary injuries in intentionally inflicted thoracic injuries to swine models.
Methods: We inflicted a penetrating heart injury in six suis domesticus female swine models. Two cardiac injuries, one on the left paratracheal of fourth intercostal space (ICS) and the other on the right side were inflicted on each model by the same researcher using a 20-cm long scalpel.

The oxidation of some cyanocycloheptatrienes with CrO3 and pyridine was investigated and a few new nitrile functionalised benzotropone derivatives were obtained. Photooxygenation reaction of these products was also studied. The structures of the formed products were determined on the basis of NMR spectroscopy and the formation mechanism of unusual products was discussed.

It is of clinical importance to determine creatinine clearance and adjust doses of prescribed drugs accordingly in patients with heart failure to prevent untoward effects. There is a scarcity of studies in the literature investigating this issue particularly in patients with heart failure, in whom many have impaired kidney function. The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of awareness of medication prescription as to creatinine clearance in patients hospitalized with heart failure.

Background: Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is a serious clinical condition characterised by a high mortality rate. Previous studies showed that leukocytosis was associated with recurrences of venous thromboemboli, major bleeding and increased mortality. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prognostic value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with acute PE during short term follow-up.

Cellular growth is under the control of certain molecules such as cyclins and cyclin dependent kinases. Dysregulation of these proteins disrupt cell cycle and may trigger malignant transformation. Cyclins and kinase inhibitors also play essential roles in endometrial cellular proliferation.

Thyroid lipomatosis is a rare condition characterized by the presence of abundant mature adipose tissue in the thyroid gland. We herein report the case of a 43-year-old man with chronic renal failure caused by amyloidosis presenting with an asymmetrically enlarging thyroid gland. The patient's thyroid hormone levels were normal, and test results for thyroid autoantibodies were negative.
