Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are important participants in human tumors. The current study assessed the clinical value and functional role of TRAF3IP2-AS1 in cervical cancer. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to compare the TRAF3IP2-AS1 levels in serum samples in healthy control, patients with cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), as well as in cervical cancer cells.

Modified Trisection Technique: One-Trip Explantation for Foldable Intraocular Lens.

Purpose: We present a new technique that allows an intraocular lens to be explanted through the small incisions used in modern cataract surgery.

Methods And Results: The intraocular lens optic is cut into three connected pieces at the 1-mm-wide end with scissors. Then, with the stabilizing counterforce provided by a pair of vitreoretinal forceps through a paracentesis, the middle piece is removed first, followed by the two side pieces connected with haptics flipped over at the connected part.

Reconstruction of the Defect at Temporal Hairline by a Scalp Keystone Island Flap: Clinical Experience on 14 Cases.

Background: The reconstructions of defects at the temporal hairline always require more complicated designs and higher surgical skills to acquire better aesthetic results. By taking advantage of the unique anatomy of the temporal region, the authors designed a scalp keystone island flap pedicled by superficial temporal fascia to repair defects on the temporal hairline.

Methods: The authors retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 14 patients who had lesions adjacent to the temporal hairline between April 2018 and June 2020.

Castleman disease (CD) is a rare chronic lymphoproliferative disease with unknown etiology and pathogenesis disease. When the lesion is located in the mediastinum, the diagnosis of CD is easy. However, if the lesion presents as a perigastric mass mimicking other subserosal gastric mesenchymal tumors, the diagnosis can be challenging.

Material And Methods: In this study, 210 patients with hypertensive nephropathy were recruited as the kidney disease group, 100 patients with simple hypertension were recruited as the hypertension group, and another 100 healthy participants were recruited as the control group. We conducted SDS-AGE of urinary proteins and urinary microalbumin (mAlb), β-microglobulin (β-MG), retinol-binding protein (RBP), serum cystatin C (CysC), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine tests at the same time.

[Clinical observation on wheat grain moxibustion for chronic superficial gastritis of spleen-stomach deficiency and cold].

Objective: To compare the clinical effect of wheat grain moxibustion and warming acupuncture on chronic superficial gastritis of spleen-stomach deficiency and cold.

Methods: A total of 200 patients with chronic superficial gastritis of spleen-stomach deficiency and cold were randomly divided into a wheat grain moxibustion group (100 cases, 13 cases dropped off ) and a warming acupuncture group (100 cases, 16 cases dropped off ). The acupoints of Zhongwan (CV 12), Tianshu (ST 25), Qihai (CV 6), Liangqiu (ST 34) and Zusanli (ST 36) were selected in both groups.

Methods: The expression levels of HAND2-AS1 and runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) were determined in patients with HCC and HCC cell lines using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses.

Quantitative analysis of excipient dominated drug formulations by Raman spectroscopy combined with deep learning.

Owing to the growing interest in the application of Raman spectroscopy for quantitative purposes in solid pharmaceutical preparations, an article on the identification of compositions in excipient dominated drugs based on Raman spectra is presented. We proposed label-free Raman spectroscopy in conjunction with deep learning (DL) and non-negative least squares (NNLS) as a solution to overcome the drug fast screening bottleneck, which is not only a great challenge to drug administration, but also a major scientific challenge linked to falsified and/or substandard medicines. The result showed that Raman spectroscopy remains a cost effective, rapid, and user-friendly method, which if combined with DL and NNLS leads to fast implantation in the identification of lactose dominated drug (LDD) formulations.

Probucol ameliorates EMT and lung fibrosis through restoration of SIRT3 expression.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a progressive fibrotic lung disease with a paucity of therapeutic options. Here we investigated the potential roles of probucol, a cholesterol-lowering drug with potent anti-oxidation properties, on pulmonary epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and fibrosis. We found that bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis was associated with increased transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and decreased E-cadherin expression in lung tissues, indicating EMT formation.

In view of the recognized anti-tumor properties of eugenol against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in cell culture, here we further set out to investigate the potential therapeutic effect of eugenol in vivo and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism. The relative expression levels of TRIM59 and p65 in NSCLC were quantified by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Xenograft tumor model was established with TRIM59-deficient H1975 cells, and tumor progression was monitored.

A modified risk score in one-year survival rate assessment of group 1 pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Background: Risk assessment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) contributes to its management. Unfortunately, the existing risk assessment approaches are defective for clinicians to practice in daily clinical settings to some extent.

Methods: We designed a modified Risk Assessment Score of PAH (mRASP) comprising four non-invasive variables which were World Health Organization functional class(WHO FC), 6-min walk distance (6MWD), N-terminal of the pro-hormone brain natriuretic peptide(NT-pro BNP), and right atrial area(RAA), then validated it in the prediction of one-year survival rate for patients with PAH by contrast with the REVEAL risk score.

This study reported how our nurses perceived the usability of CGA component of a mobile integrated-care long term care support system developed in China. We used the Continuity Assessment Record and Evaluation (CARE), developed in the US, as the core CGA component of our Android-based support system, in which apps were designed for all key stakeholders for delivering quality long term care.
