Mortalin (encoded by HSPA9) is a mitochondrial chaperone often overexpressed in cancer through as-yet-unknown mechanisms. By searching different RNA-sequencing datasets, we found that ESRRA is a transcription factor highly correlated with HSPA9 in thyroid cancer, especially in follicular, but not C cell-originated, tumors. Consistent with this correlation, ESRRA depletion decreased mortalin expression only in follicular thyroid tumor cells.

Purpose: Type 2 endoleaks (T2EL) are the most common form of endoleaks after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Several studies on the feasibility of embolization using ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (Onyx, Medtronic) for T2EL have been reported. The purpose of this study was to compare coil and Onyx embolization for T2EL treatment after EVAR.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a successful surgical method for hip replacement but still poses challenges and risks. Robotic-assisted THA (rTHA) using new generation robotic systems has emerged to improve surgical precision and outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on rTHA, with a focus on its advantages, such as individualized preoperative planning, intraoperative assistance, and improved accuracy in implantation, especially in complex cases.

Background: For anterolateral rotatory instability as a result of secondary soft tissue injuries in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)-deficient knees, there is increasing interest in secondary stabilizers to prevent internal rotation (IR) of the tibia.
Purpose: To determine which secondary stabilizer is more important in anterolateral rotatory instability in ACL-deficient knees.
Study Design: Controlled laboratory study.

Varus alignment of the knee joint (varus >5°) is known as a poor prognostic factor for medial meniscus root repair, and alignment correction is recommended in patients with varus deformity and medial meniscus root tears. However, simultaneous medial meniscus pull-out repair and high tibial osteotomy are technically demanding procedures due to the long surgical time, poor visualization, and breaking of the pull-out sutures during high tibial osteotomy procedures. In the present Technical Note, we will introduce a surgical method to perform 2 procedures simultaneously without technical difficulty.

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common neurological illness marked by a strong desire to move one's legs, usually in association with uncomfortable sensations. Recent studies have investigated brain networks and connectivity in RLS. The advent of network analysis has greatly improved our understanding of the brain and various neurological disorders.

Purpose: Lunit INSIGHT CXR (Lunit) is a commercially available deep-learning algorithm-based decision support system for chest radiography (CXR). This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the concordance rate of radiologists and Lunit for thoracic abnormalities in a multicenter health screening cohort.
Methods And Materials: We retrospectively evaluated the radiology reports and Lunit results for CXR at several health screening centers in August 2020.

Objectives: We aim ed to evaluate a commercial artificial intelligence (AI) solution on a multicenter cohort of chest radiographs and to compare physicians' ability to detect and localize referable thoracic abnormalities with and without AI assistance.
Methods: In this retrospective diagnostic cohort study, we investigated 6,006 consecutive patients who underwent both chest radiography and CT. We evaluated a commercially available AI solution intended to facilitate the detection of three chest abnormalities (nodule/masses, consolidation, and pneumothorax) against a reference standard to measure its diagnostic performance.

Percutaneous vertebroplasty (VP) and kyphoplasty (KP) are well-established minimally invasive surgical procedures for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). However, some drawbacks have been reported regarding these procedures, including height loss, cement leakage, and loss of the restored height after balloon deflation. We performed a novel VP technique to minimize these limitations of conventional procedures.

Purpose: We aimed to introduce a new technique to reduce regional asymmetry of corneal thickness by assessing its effectiveness in four patients with myopic regression after laser refractive surgery (LRS).
Patients And Methods: Four patients (four eyes) with myopic regression after LRS were included in this study. A new technique of enhancement with laser epithelial keratomileusis-linked laser asymmetric keratectomy using semi-cylindrical ablation pattern (E-LAK-SCAP) with full integration of the Vision-Up software for analyzing the corneal thickness deviation can be used to create central symmetry by blocking laser ablation on the thin cornea.

To compare and analyze the postoperative 1-year outcomes of laser refractive surgery (LRS) alone vs LRS with laser asymmetric keratectomy (LAK), in patients with myopia, for preventing and resolving LRS complications. This retrospective study compared the preoperative and 1-year postoperative outcomes between the control and comparison groups using a sum of deviations in corneal thickness in 4 directions >80 μm. The control group included 41 patients with myopia (41 eyes) who underwent LRS.

Purpose: This study evaluated the performance of a commercially available deep-learning algorithm (DLA) (Insight CXR, Lunit, Seoul, South Korea) for referable thoracic abnormalities on chest X-ray (CXR) using a consecutively collected multicenter health screening cohort.
Methods And Materials: A consecutive health screening cohort of participants who underwent both CXR and chest computed tomography (CT) within 1 month was retrospectively collected from three institutions' health care clinics (n = 5,887). Referable thoracic abnormalities were defined as any radiologic findings requiring further diagnostic evaluation or management, including DLA-target lesions of nodule/mass, consolidation, or pneumothorax.

The present study was conducted to report the perioperative outcomes of single-port access (SPA) laparoscopic gynecologic surgeries with focus on the incidence of postoperative incisional hernia from our cumulative data of 2498 patients. A retrospective review was performed on the women who had received SPA surgeries from 2008 to 2018. Patient characteristics and perioperative outcomes including the incidence of postoperative incisional hernia were analyzed.

Background: Differences in the performance of suggested warfarin dosing algorithms among different ethnicities and genotypes have been reported; this necessitates the development of an algorithm with enhanced performance for specific population groups. Previous warfarin dosing algorithms underestimated warfarin doses in 1173C carriers. We aimed to develop and validate a new warfarin dosing algorithm for Korean patients with 1173C.

Patients And Methods: We examined 216 EBC patients treated with partial mastectomy followed by radiotherapy (RT), none of whom received chemotherapy. Absolute lymphocyte counts (ALCs) during the two years after RT were collected from each patient: pretreatment ALC, ALC at 3-5 months (ALC1), ALC at 9-11 months, ALC at 15-17 months, and ALC at 21-23 months.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine which preoperative factors affect the postoperative change in the joint line convergence angle (JLCA) by preoperatively quantifying soft tissue laxity.
Methods: Thirty-four patients who underwent medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) with a navigation were analysed. The JLCA change after HTO was calculated using standing long-bone anteroposterior radiographs taken preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively.

Background: There have been many efforts to find modifiable risk factors for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in the perioperative period of total knee arthroplasty (TKA), while no study has investigated the relationship between the muscle mass and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism frequency following TKA. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between muscle volume and the prevalence of symptomatic and radiologically confirmed venous thromboembolism (VTE) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: A total of 261 consecutive patients who underwent primary TKA between 2013 and 2015 were enrolled.
