Polyethylenimine Increases Antibacterial Efficiency of Chlorophyllin.

Antibiotics (Basel)

October 2022

Gravitational Biology Group, Department of Biology, Cell Biology Division, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität, Erlangen-Nürnberg, 91058 Erlangen, Germany.

Polyethylenimines (PEIs), a group of polycationic molecules, are known to impair the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria and exhibit antimicrobial activity. The outer membrane of Gram-negative strains hinders the uptake of photosensitizer chlorophyllin. In this study, we report chlorophyllin and branched PEI combinations’ activity against Escherichia coli strains DH5α and RB791, Salmonella enterica sv.

Background: Leishmaniasis is the second and fourth highest cause of mortality and morbidity respectively among all tropical diseases. Recurrence in the onset of leishmaniasis is a major problem that needs to be addressed to reduce the case fatality rate and ensure timely clinical intervention. Here we are investigating the association of risk factors with recurrent cutaneous leishmaniasis to address this issue.

Genomic and Epigenomic Features of Glioblastoma Multiforme and its Biomarkers.

J Oncol

September 2022

Department of Pharmacy Practice, Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Riphah International University, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Article Synopsis
  • Glioblastoma multiforme is a highly aggressive brain tumor with a poor prognosis and low survival rates, primarily due to ineffective treatment options and invasive diagnostic methods.
  • The article emphasizes the need for novel, less invasive biomarkers, including genetic mutations (like IDH, MGMT, and EGFR) and microRNAs, to improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes for glioblastoma patients.
  • Recent advancements in clinical approaches to treating glioblastoma and preventing its relapse are also discussed, aiming to enhance patient care and therapeutic effectiveness.

This study enumerates the evolution of basic human values orientations and the dynamic relationship between them, computed from Schwartz's value survey conducted in European nations. For this purpose, eight datasets related to the human value scale were extracted from the European Social Survey; each corresponds to a single round conducted cross-sectionally every two years since 2001. Change detection algorithm was implemented to the cluster solutions of temporal datasets, and the evolution of important clusters was traced.
