Unlabelled: The objective of this study was to evaluate extraaortic arterial (18)F-FDG accumulation in asymptomatic cohorts by sex and to clarify the association between extraaortic arterial (18)F-FDG accumulation and cardiovascular risk factors (CRFs) and coronary artery stenosis (CAS).

Methods: Five hundred twenty-one asymptomatic individuals (351 men and 170 women) who underwent cancer and CAS screening were enrolled. We evaluated extraaortic arterial (18)F-FDG accumulation in the carotid artery (CA) and iliofemoral artery (IFA) and classified the accumulation patterns into 3 types.

Assessment of FDG retention differences between the FDG-avid benign pulmonary lesion and primary lung cancer using dual-time-point FDG-PET imaging.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to clarify FDG retention differences between FDG-avid benign pulmonary lesions (BPLs) and primary lung cancers (PLCs), and between tuberculous and non-tuberculous BPLs using dual-time-point FDG-PET imaging.

Methods: Thirty-four BPLs and 47 PLCs with a maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) >2.5 and a maximal axial diameter >10 mm were enrolled.

FDG-PET/CT findings of peritoneal lymphomatosis.

Peritoneal lymphomatosis (PL) is an extensive lymphomatous infiltration of the intraperitoneal portion of the subperitoneal space, which is a rare presentation of lymphoma. Using CT or MRI findings alone, it is difficult to differentiate between lymphomatosis, carcinomatosis, and other pathological entities.We experienced two PL cases and herein report the FDG-PET/CT findings.

Efficacy and safety of yttrium-90 ibritumomab tiuxetan in Japanese patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of radioimmunotherapies with Zevalin(®) (RIT-Z) in Japanese patients with low-grade B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Materials And Methods: Sixty-two patients with NHL were enrolled. Based on histology, 49 of the patients had follicular lymphoma and 23 had other lesions.

This report presents the cases of 2 patients who experienced adverse side effects of cardiac rhythm with QT prolongation caused by Donepezil. Both of them improved to the original rhythm and shortened QT intervals after the discontinuation of Donepezil.

Retrospective analysis of the results of strip biopsies to determine the indication for endoscopic submucosal dissection for early gastric cancer.

Objective: To determine the indication for endoscopic submucosal dissection, we retrospectively analyzed the results of strip biopsies for early gastric cancer.

Methods: We studied 374 lesions of 360 patients with early gastric cancer. The resection results were classified into complete local resection and incomplete resection.

[An autopsy case of massive hemoptysis due to a rupture of the thoracic aortic aneurysm into the left lung].

An 81-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with aspiration pneumonia and thereafter suddenly died of massive hemoptysis. An autopsy revealed an aortic arch aneurysm which had ruptured into the left lung. This case showed that acute infectious lung diseases, such as aspiration pneumonia, could cause a rupture of thoracic aortic aneurysms.

[Case of intractable hemoptysis controlled by bronchial occlusion with an Endobronchial Watanabe Spigot (EWS)].

A man in his eighties with massive hemoptysis was referred to our hospital in order to control the bleeding. Chest computed tomography (CT) indicated that the hemoptysis originated from the right upper lobe. We performed arterial embolization twice, but failed to stop it.

Perioperative management of severe interstitial pneumonia for rectal surgery: a case report.

This report describes a case of rectal cancer with severe interstitial pneumonia (IP) and chronic pneumothorax. Acute exacerbation of IP is a serious postoperative complication and the consequences are extremely poor. To provide less invasive surgery and to prevent acute exacerbation of the IP, the patient received chemo-radiotherapy for controlling locally advanced tumor following low anterior resection under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia.

Dose-dependent effects of recombinant human interleukin-11 on the systemic hemodynamic function and urination.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) could dose-dependently improve the hemodynamic function. Using a swine hemorrhagic shock model, rhIL-11 was given at the beginning of resuscitation. The animals were randomized to receive a single dose of rhIL-11 (5, 20, or 50 microg/kg, group I to III for respectively) or saline (group IV).
