Objective: The efficacy of mogamulizumab in adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) was reported in a previous phase 2 study. Compared with patients in clinical trials, however, most patients in real-life settings have demonstrated worse outcomes.

Method: We retrospectively analyzed 96 patients with relapsed/refractory ATLL who received mogamulizumab treatment.

The patients were unknown to each other and did not have any clear causes or common risk factors of hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection. Methods: Sixty-two patients with suspected LBRD who underwent (123)I-MIBG dynamic imaging in early phase were retrospectively selected. The early WR and AUTAC were calculated from (123)I-MIBG dynamic data of the heart.

Background: The adventitia is suggested to contribute to vascular remodeling; however, the site-selective inflammatory responses in association with the development of atherosclerosis remain to be elucidated.

Methods And Results: Wild-type or apolipoprotein E knockout male C57BL/6J background mice were fed standard chow for 16, 32, and 52 weeks, and the morphology of the aortic arch, descending aorta, and abdominal aorta was compared. Atheromatous plaque formation progressed with age, particularly in the aortic arch and abdominal aorta but not in the descending aorta.

Candidate gene analysis using genomic quantitative PCR: identification of ADAMTS13 large deletions in two patients with Upshaw-Schulman syndrome.

Direct sequencing is a popular method to discover mutations in candidate genes responsible for hereditary diseases. A certain type of mutation, however, can be missed by the method. Here, we report a comprehensive genomic quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to complement the weakness of direct sequencing.

Cardiac rupture in acute myocardial infarction: post-mortem MR imaging.

We assessed acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with cardiac rupture in an autopsy using magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in vitro and histological staining. Cardiac MR imaging in vitro generated high resolution images of myocardial thinning, rupture, and epicardial hemorrhage. High signal intensity (SI) on T(1) weighted images (WI) and low SI on T(2)WI of the rupture site corresponded with acute myocardial necrosis, edema, and hemorrhage.

The quality control of liquid-crystal display (LCD) monitors has become one of the important topics for maintaining reliable soft-copy readings in the interpretation of diagnostic images. In this paper, the effects of correction in the luminance measurement of an LCD monitor by use of a telescopic-type luminance meter were investigated. The luminance of the LCD monitor in different ambient-lighting conditions was measured and compared to the results obtained with no ambient lighting (0 lux).

Efficacy of intravenous ciprofloxacin in patients with febrile neutropenia refractory to initial therapy.

We previously reported that monotherapy with carbapenem or cefepime exhibited efficacy equivalent to cefepime plus an aminoglycoside as initial therapy for febrile neutropenia (FN), achieving an adequate response in two-thirds of the patients. However, only one-third of the remaining poor responders to monotherapy became afebrile after an aminoglycoside was added to the initial carbapenem or cefepime.
