[Case of atonic bleeding managed by emergency total hysterectomy and mass blood transfusion right after the cesarean section].

A 34-year-old woman, who had had atonic bleeding six years ago, had selective cesarean section under CSEA. On the operation, atonic bleeding occurred and persisted. Though we used uterine contracting agents (oxytocin, ergometrine), the bleeding volume exceeded 2,000 ml and the examination revealed Hb 5.

[Investigation of preoperative respiratory evaluation in four cases of myasthenia gravis undergoing extended thymectomy in the past two years].

Background: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease. The MG patients undergoing extended thymectomy under general anesthesia are at risk for postoperative complications, such as respiratory insufficiency and crisis (cholinergic and myasthenic). We evaluated the preoperative predictive factors, which are important for postoperative respiratory control.

We present a case of anesthetic management in a child with myotubular myopathy. A 3-month-old, 3.0 kg, male patient, who had been suspected of a congenital myopathy, was scheduled for the muscle biopsy.

Radiation enteritis: a rare complication of the transverse colon in uterine cancer.

Radiation therapy is a powerful method for the control of cancer. The utilization of abdominal or pelvic radiation has been extended, and the incidence of radiation enteritis appears to be increasing. The majority of the induced lesions is in the distal ileum, sigmoid colon, or rectum.

Erythropoietin supplement increases plasma lipoprotein lipase and hepatic triglyceride lipase levels in hemodialysis patients.

Background: We reported in previous studies that plasma triglyceride levels, as well as remnant-like particles-cholesterol (RLP-C) and -triglyceride (RLP-TG) levels, were significantly lower in maintenance hemodialysis (HD) patients treated with erythropoietin (EPO) than in HD patients treated without EPO. However, little is known about the mechanisms underlying the improvements in abnormal RLP metabolism in HD patients. This study investigates whether EPO supplement therapy in cases of uremic anemia increases the plasma lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and hepatic triglyceride lipase (HTGL) levels in HD patients.
