Therefore, protective medicine becomes more important for society. MK-801 is a chemical agent used to understand the etiology of behavioral disorders and brain degeneration in animal models.

Validity and reliability of Polar M400 GPS watches for measuring distances covered by team sports players.

Monitoring locomotor demands in team sports becomes popular in professional and recreational daily activities. Precise measurements are main of importance in training routine. The aim of this study is three-fold: (i) analyze the validity of Polar M400 Global Positioning System (GPS) watches for measuring distances covered in team sports simulation cycle; (ii) testing inter-unit reliability of two devices attached during testing; and (iii) testing inter-session reliability for the same simulation cycle.

Extracardiac adult-type rhabdomyoma-Report of two cases in dogs.

This report describes the cytologic, histopathologic, and immunohistochemical features of adult-type rhabdomyoma located within the subcutaneous tissue in a 14-year-old female Border Collie (thigh) and a 13-year-old male Mongrel (flank). In both cases, fine-needle aspiration biopsy revealed cluster-forming, epithelial-like polygonal cells with abundant foamy cytoplasm, and moderate to marked anisocytosis and anisokaryosis; therefore, an epithelial tumor was suspected. After surgical excision, tumors underwent histopathologic examination with additional immunohistochemistry.

Obtaining bio-oil and activated carbon from waste pomegranate peels by pyrolysis.

This study aims to produce beneficial products with pomegranate peel waste through pyrolysis. For this purpose, the usability of the liquid product as a biofuel and the solid product as an adsorbent for dye removal was investigated. To characterize the bio-oil and biochar produced under the best pyrolysis conditions, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), calorific value, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses were conducted.

Variability of peak speed and sprinting actions during the same small-sided games: within- and between-player variations inspected over four consecutive weeks.

This study aimed to analyze within- and between-player variations of peak speed and sprinting actions occurring in small-sided games (SSGs: 1 v 1 and 5 v 5). The study followed a cohort study design. Twenty male youth soccer players (age: 17 years old) from the same team were observed over four consecutive weeks.

Testing the peak running speed in analytical and contextual-based scenarios: Applied research in young adult soccer players.

The primary aim was to compare the peak running speed (PRS) attained in the 40-m linear sprint test, in an analytical-based soccer drill, in the 5-0-5 test, and a training match scenario. The secondary aim of the study was to evaluate the differences between the three assessment sessions and identify how the tests can vary from session to session. Additionally, we aimed to investigate the within-test variability to understand how consistent the performance is within each test format across the different sessions.

Examining the Relationship Between Maladaptive Perfectionism and Social Anxiety: The Mediating Role of Self-Compassion.

Previous studies have indicated a relationship between perfectionism and social anxiety symptoms, but the mechanisms between these concepts are not well-defined yet. This study focused on the mediator role of self-compassion in the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and social anxiety symptoms controlling self-esteem. It is hypothesized that maladaptive perfectionism would be related to lower levels of self-compassion and lower levels of self-compassion related to greater social anxiety symptoms controlling self-esteem.

Fabrication of wound dressings: Herbal extract-loaded nanoliposomes embedded in fungal chitosan/polycaprolactone electrospun nanofibers for tissue regeneration.

Wound healing is a complex process and one of the major therapeutic and economic subjects in the pharmaceutical area. In recent years, the fabrication of nano-sized wound dressing models has attracted great attention for tissue regeneration. Plant extracts loaded nanoparticles are environmentally friendly and non-toxic and the release of the bioactive substance will be controlled to the wound area.

Natural antioxidants can be preferred as an alternative and/or combination to improve this damage. This present study was conducted to evaluate the protective effect of Tubuloside A (TA) against diclofenac (DF)-induced hepato-renal damage.

Effect of cold atmospheric plasma/NO gas application with different exposure times on healing in wounds with tissue loss in diabetic rats.

Applications of cold atmospheric plasma/nitric oxide (CAP/NO) gas have recently garnered popularity when treating impaired wound healing in patients with diabetes. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of NO gas application for 60 and 120 s on wound healing in diabetic rats. A dorsal excision 3 cm in diameter was performed in 15 diabetic rats; these rats were categorized into the following 3 groups: DC (untreated diabetic control); DNO/60 (exposure to 200 ppm NO gas for 60 s/day); and DNO/120 (exposure to 200 ppm NO gas for 120 s/day).

Removal of amoxicillin via chromatographic monolithic columns: comparison between batch and continuous fixed bed.

This study presented a hydrophobic interaction-based poly(HEMA-MATrp) monolithic chromatographic column (MCC) to remove amoxicillin from aqueous solutions. In addition to their porous structure, monolithic-filled columns offer superior properties without loss of performance, which is one of the points that make them unique. The specific surface area of the monolithic column synthesized by the bulk polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and N-Methacryloyl-L-tryptophan.

The effects of progesterone on the healing of obstetric anal sphincter damage in female rats.

We aimed to evaluate the effects of postpartum progesterone on obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) healing in female rats using an experimental OASI model. Twenty-eight female rats were divided into four groups after birth: sham-30, sham-90, progesterone (P4)-30, and P4-90. Moreover, OASI model was established in all groups.

Despite a global background of increasing anthelmintic resistance in parasites, little is known about the current parasite control strategies adopted within the livestock industry in Türkiye. The aim of this survey is to identify the parasitic diseases encountered by veterinarians, the methods and drugs used for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, parasite control practices, and other related factors. This survey was conducted online between October 2018 and March 2019 with the participation of 607 veterinarians working in different areas from seven different geographical regions of Türkiye.

Synergistic toxicity of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and arsenic alters biomarkers in rats.

2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and arsenic cause severe and extensive biological toxicity in organisms. However, their interactions and toxic mechanisms in co-exposure remain to be fully elucidated. In this study, 28 four-week-old female rats were divided into four groups and exposed to 100 mg/L arsenic or/and 600 mg/L 2,4-D through drinking water for a period of 28 days.

This comprehensive study investigates the micro-milling of a Mg13Sn alloy, a material of considerable interest in various high-precision applications, such as biomedical implants. The main objective of the study was to explore the optimizations of variable feed per tooth (fz), cutting speed (Vc), and depth of cut (ap) parameters on the key outcomes of the micro-milling process. A unique experimental setup was employed, employing a spindle capable of achieving up to 60,000 revolutions per minute.

Bioactive Compounds and In Vitro Antioxidant and Anticoccidial Activities of Flower Extracts.

The objective of the present study is to identify the biochemical compounds extracted from OFI flowers using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry and to evaluate their in vitro antioxidant activities and anticoccidial effects on the destruction of oocysts isolated from naturally infected chickens. A domestic microwave was used with a refrigerant to condense the vapors generated during the extraction. The flavonoid and phenolic compound contents of the OFI flowers were determined according to standard methods.

Fear of Positive Evaluation and Loneliness: Mediating Role of Social Anxiety and Suppression.

Loneliness is a commonly observed problem that is associated with several mental and physical health outcomes. Although research shows that fear of negative evaluation is related to loneliness, no study has examined the role of fear of positive evaluation (FPE) on loneliness. This study investigated the mediator role of social anxiety and suppression in the relationship between FPE and loneliness using an undergraduate sample ( = 467).

Conjunctival Impression Cytology and Tear Film Changes in Sarcoidosis: A Subjective and Objective Diagnosis Study.

Objectives: To evaluate sarcoidosis-induced tear film changes using subjective and objective diagnostic tests, particularly conjunctival impression cytology (IC), and to compare the results with healthy individuals.

Materials And Methods: This study evaluated clinical data collected between January 2019 and January 2021 from 57 right eyes of 57 sarcoidosis patients without ocular involvement (Group 1) and 33 right eyes of 33 healthy individuals with similar demographic characteristics (Group 2). The Schirmer I test, tear break-up time (TBUT), fluorescein staining, and conjunctival IC were all performed as part of the conjunctival and corneal examinations following a thorough ophthalmological examination.

How do logistics and financial ındicators contribute to carbon emissions in Turkiye?

Increasing carbon emissions (CO) due to factors such as energy consumption (enco), industrialization, increase in world population, and decrease in green areas with the industrial revolution is one of the main causes of both climate change and global warming. In this context, due to the increasing commercial activities in Turkiye, the rapid growth of energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the logistics sector alert the government. However, there is a lack of standard measures for evaluating GHG emissions generated from freight transport operations.
