Objectives: To evaluate the incidence and characteristics of severe infections in rheumatic patients receiving biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) after kidney transplantation.

Methods: This multicenter, retrospective study included 38 patients who had undergone kidney transplantation and received bDMARDs for rheumatic diseases. Demographic, clinical, and treatment data were collected.

Level of Information and Awareness About Colorectal Cancer and Its Screening Program in Türkiye: A Community-Based Cross-Sectional Study.

Objective: Colorectal cancer (CRC) has high mortality if it is detected in advanced stages, persons can lower their risk of CRC by adopting a healthy lifestyle that may lead to prevention. Screening is the most powerful public health tool to reduce mortality, considering the challenges of making substantial lifestyle changes or implementing widespread primary prevention strategies to lower the risk of CRC. This study aims to find out the levels of information and awareness about CRC and its screening program in individuals living in Türkiye.

Milk ladder: Who? When? How? Where? with the lowest risk of reaction.

The milk ladder (ML) approach, which is the gradual reintroduction of the milk allergen from the least allergenic forms to the most allergenic forms into the diet of the patients, has been utilized mostly in non-IgE-mediated but in some countries also in IgE-mediated-CMPA due to its possible benefits which include nutrition, quality of life and tolerance induction. Despite increasing interest, so far, there is no guideline on ML; thus, the use of this approach shows discrepancies among healthcare professionals as many factors such as dietary habits, patient history, test results, workload, and facilities of the hospitals, the anxiety of the parents/patients may affect the decision on how, when, where and whom to use ML. Here, we reviewed current data on implementing the ML, suggested a 4-step ML including receipts and amounts, and shared our experience on optimal patient selection, appropriate time and steps for initiating ML, and time intervals between the steps targeting the lowest risk of reaction.

Age estimation by radiomics analysis of mandibular condylar cone beam computed tomography images.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to estimate the legal age using the parameters obtained from radiomic analysis of the mandibular condyle in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images.

Material And Methods: The study group consisted of 300 mandibular condyles, which were categorized into six groups based on the age of the patients: 8-11 years, 12-14 years, 15-17 years, 18-20 years, 21-23 years, and over 24 years. Therapeutic potential of adult stem cells-derived mitochondria transfer combined with curcumin administration into ARPE-19 cells in age-related macular degeneration model.

Objective: Mitochondria transfer from human Wharton's Jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hWJ-MSCs-mt) and human endometrium-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hE-MSCs-mt), along with curcumin, were explored as potential treatments for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) caused by mitochondrial inefficiency, using a retinal model to assess impacts of curcumin and hWJ-MSCs-mt or hE-MSCs-mt on AMD.

Methods: ARPE-19 cells established an in vitro AMD model. Cells were exposed to 0-50 μM curcumin for 24 hours to determine optimal concentration by assessing their viability.

Rhabdomyolysis is a potentially life-threatening condition in pediatric patients, often triggered by various factors, such as infections, trauma, hereditary metabolic disorders, and certain medications. Elevated creatine kinase levels are commonly observed in newborns and are often attributed to factors such as hypoxia, labor dystocia, and birth trauma. However, rhabdomyolysis in this population is rare and typically associated with hereditary metabolic disorders, medications, or infections.

Effects of virtual reality exercise on pain, joint motion, and quality of life in patients with frozen shoulder: a randomized controlled study.

Background: Restriction of shoulder movements in frozen shoulder may negatively affect individual's daily living activities. The effect of the virtual reality (VR)-based exercise program, which is an innovative application and has been used in the field of physiotherapy in recent years, is unknown on patients diagnosed with frozen shoulder.

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effects of a VR-based exercise program provided to patients with frozen shoulder on their pain, joint motion, and quality of life.

Objective: To evaluate the maternal and fetal outcomes of 12 pregnant women diagnosed with pemphigoid gestationis, in conjunction with a review of the literature.

Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on the medical records of 12 patients diagnosed with pemphigoid gestationis who presented  between January 2014 and January 2024.

Background: Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) is reportedly rare but has high morbidity and mortality risk in persons with hemophilia. Although the risk factors that facilitate bleeding are known, the factors affecting the sequelae are not well known.

Objectives: We planned to investigate the risk factors for neurologic sequelae in children and adolescents with hemophilia suffering from ICH.

Efficacy and Safety of CT-P13 as First- and Second-Line Treatment in Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis.

CT-P13 is a biosimilar version of infliximab, a monoclonal antibody. In individuals with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), CT-P13 has been shown to be effective and to have a well-tolerated safety profile. The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term drug persistence, safety, and efficacy of infliximab biosimilar CT-P13 in patients with AS undergoing first-line (1st-line) and later (≥2nd-line) treatment in clinical practice.

A novel approach to antimicrobial resistance: Machine learning predictions for carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella in intensive care units.

This study was conducted at Kocaeli University Hospital in Turkey and aimed to predict carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infection in intensive care units using the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm, a form of artificial intelligence. This was a retrospective case-control study involving 289 patients, including 159 carbapenem-resistant and 130 carbapenem-susceptible individuals as controls. The model's predictive analysis combined a diverse range of demographic, clinical, and laboratory data, resulting in an average accuracy of 83.

The effectiveness of day clinic treatment in adolescents with obsessive compulsive disorder: Outcomes in Turkey.

Background: Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) causes impairment in social and academic functionality. Intensive treatment methods such as day treatments are recommended in resistant cases.

Aims: The aim of this study is to examine the changes in treatment responses according to gender in children and adolescents with OCD who are followed up in the day clinic and to evaluate the factors that predict treatment.

Background: Rigicon is a newer inflatable penile prostheses (IPP) manufacturer that has produced the Infla10 IPP for countries outside the United States (US) since 2019, with Food and Drug Administration studies for approval of Infla10 in the US presently underway.

Aim: This study aims to report the first patient satisfaction, efficacy, and safety from revision data for the newly available Rigicon Infla10 IPP.

Methods: A single surgeon's first 58 patients who underwent Rigicon Infla10 IPP implantation between 2019 and 2023 were included.

Inhibitor development upon switching from plasma-derived to recombinant factor VIII in previously untreated patients with severe hemophilia A: the PUP-SWITCH study.

Background: The SIPPET randomized clinical trial showed that in previously untreated patients (PUPs) with severe hemophilia A, treatment with plasma-derived factor (F)VIII (pdFVIII) within the first 50 exposure days (EDs) was associated with a lower cumulative incidence of inhibitors than with recombinant FVIII (rFVIII). Switching to rFVIII beyond 50 EDs with pdFVIII is a treatment often implemented by many centers. The question is whether or not this switch may induce a risk of inhibitor development.

The effect of music on nonstress test and pregnant women's satisfaction: a randomized controlled trial.

Objective: The aim of this research was to determine the effect of music on nonstress testing and pregnant women's satisfaction.

Methods: The research, which was designed as a randomized controlled experimental study, was conducted between September 2021 and September 2022 at a training and research university hospital in the north of Turkey. The population of the research consisted of pregnant women who were requested to take a nonstress test, and the sample consisted of 111 pregnant women (music group: 56 and control group: 55).
