Mild traumatic brain injury, such as concussion, was once considered self-resolving. However, over the past decade, increased understanding of the short- and long-term impact has led to new guidelines for active management. In this review, we summarise recent findings, covering diagnostic criteria, and management for early and persistent symptoms.

The nationwide Danish healthcare service for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria opened in 2016, based on clinical experience from other European countries and early follow-up studies, implying that early medical transition resulted in better physical and psychological outcomes. This review discusses how a rapid increase of referrals, especially among adolescent birth-assigned girls, and other factors such as high rates of psychiatric morbidity and varying developmental trajectories of gender identity have affected international and Danish healthcare in recent years.

Solitary fibrous tumours (SFT) are rare soft tissue tumours with a primarily benign course. Complete surgical resection is the mainstay treatment. In this case report, a 75-year-old man had a massive intrathoracic SFT which was subsequently surgically resected without complications.

This review describes the clinical ethics committees in Denmark. The clinical ethics committee is an interdisciplinary committee at a hospital intended to analyse ethically challenging situations and burdensome choices in patient care. The work in Danish KEKs takes place without formal organisation, in contrast to several other countries, where clinical ethics is regulated by law as research ethics is in Denmark.

Tristan da Cunha is assumed to be the youngest subaerial expression of the Walvis Ridge hot spot. Based on new hydroacoustic data, we propose that the most recent hot spot volcanic activity occurs west of the island. We surveyed relatively young intraplate volcanic fields and scattered, probably monogenetic, submarine volcanoes with multibeam echosounders and sub-bottom profilers.

Kinetics, Assembling, and Conformation Control of L-Cysteine Adsorption on Pt Investigated by in situ FTIR Spectroscopy and QCM-D.

September 2018

Depto. Química Fundamental, Instituto de Química, Universidade de São Paulo, Av. Prof. Lineu Prestes, 05508-080, São Paulo - SP, Brazil.

A quartz crystal microbalance method with dissipation (QCM-D) and attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared (ATR-FTIRS) spectroscopy were used to study the adsorption of L-cysteine (L-Cys) on Pt. Through QCM-D, it was possible to verify that the viscoelastic properties of the adsorbed species play an important role in the adsorption, rendering Sauerbrey's equation inapplicable. The modelling of QCM-D data exposed two different processes for the adsorption reaction.

Characterization of new bacterial catabolic genes and mobile genetic elements by high throughput genetic screening of a soil metagenomic library.

J Biotechnol

November 2014

Environmental Microbial Genomics Group, Laboratoire Ampère, CNRS, École Centrale de Lyon, Université de Lyon, 36 Avenue Guy de Collongue, 69134 Ecully, France. Electronic address:

A mix of oligonucleotide probes was used to hybridize soil metagenomic DNA from a fosmid clone library spotted on high density membranes. The pooled radio-labeled probes were designed to target genes encoding glycoside hydrolases GH18, dehalogenases, bacterial laccases and mobile genetic elements (integrases from integrons and insertion sequences). Positive hybridizing spots were affiliated to the corresponding clones in the library and the metagenomic inserts were sequenced.

Hypertriglyceridaemia is an uncommon cause of acute pancreatitis, accounting for 1-4% of cases. In the case of lipoprotein-lipase mutations, lipid levels may rise to extreme levels during acute pancreatitis. In this case a 29-year-old female was hospitalized several times due to acute pancreatitis.

[Amphetamine abuse in Denmark].

Ugeskr Laeger

September 1992

København Universitet, Retskemisk Institut.

Over a five-year period (1985-1989) among a population of 5 million, a survey was made of the presence of amphetamine in 741 cases, in living persons where the police had asked for analyses for amphetamine(s), narcotics, heroin-like compounds, methadone etc. Cases, where the requisition was for morphine (heroin) only, were not included, on account of analytical reasons. Two hundred and fifty-nine cases were found to be positive for amphetamine, with only 18 cases in 1985 followed by approximately 60 cases per year during the remainder of the period.
