Invasive fungal infections in liver transplant recipients are associated with elevated morbidity and mortality and pose a challenge to the treating physicians. Despite of lacking clinical data, the use of antifungal combination therapy is often considered to improve response rates in an immunocompromised patient population. We herein report a case of refractory invasive candidiasis in a liver transplant recipient treated successfully with a combination of isavuconazole und high-dose liposomal amphotericin B.

[Extended access to revision knee replacement : Intraoperative possibilities for improved joint exposure in complex knee arthroplasty procedures].

Methods: The European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM) conducted a multinational study including 20 centres from nine countries to assess epidemiology, risk factors and outcome of CAPA.

Dynamics of serum concentrations of antibodies to infliximab: a new approach for predicting secondary loss of response in inflammatory bowel diseases.

Background: Antibodies to infliximab (ATI) in serum are associated with secondary loss of response (LOR) to infliximab (IFX) therapy in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, feasible ATI-related predictors of therapy success are lacking and knowledge about individual ATI dynamics is limited. Therefore, this study analyzed whether ATI dynamics are able to predict LOR to IFX therapy and compared their predictive power with known predictors of LOR to IFX.

A recent study shows that patients' expectations of osteotomy around the knee are high, but OA progression and potential conversion to a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were underestimated. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis after ChAdOx1 nCov-19 vaccination with a misleading first cerebral MRI scan.

Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) have been recently described as rare complications following vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 with vector vaccines. We report a case of a young woman who presented with VITT and cerebral CVST 7 days following vaccination with ChAdOx1 nCov-19 (AstraZeneca). While the initial MRI was considered void of pathological findings, MRI 3 days later revealed extensive CVST of the transversal and sigmoidal sinus with intracerebral haemorrhage.
