Three-month life expectancy as inclusion criterion for clinical trials in advanced pancreatic cancer: is it really a valid tool for patient selection?

Purpose: To analyze the 3-month life expectancy rate in pancreatic cancer (PC) patients treated within prospective trials from the German AIO study group.

Patients And Methods: A pooled analysis was conducted for patients with advanced PC that were treated within five phase II/III studies conducted between 1997 and 2017 (Gem/Cis, Ro96, RC57, ACCEPT, RASH). The primary goal for the current report was to identify the actual 3-month survival rate, a standard inclusion criterion in oncology trials.

Safety and effectiveness of sacituzumab govitecan in patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer in real-world settings: first observations from an interdisciplinary breast cancer centre in Germany.

Background: Sacituzumab govitecan has been recently approved by the USFDA and EMA for the treatment of patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC). We report real-world safety and effectiveness in patients with mTNBC receiving sacituzumab govitecan treatment at a breast cancer centre in Germany.

Methods: Data from patients who had received sacituzumab govitecan as treatment for mTNBC, in both and relapsed disease, at the Kliniken Essen-Mitte, Essen, Germany, were collected through institutional records.

RANK Expression as an Independent Predictor for Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Luminal-Like Breast Cancer: A Translational Insight from the GeparX Trial.

Purpose: The GeparX study investigated whether denosumab as add-on treatment to nab-paclitaxel-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) with two different schedules (125 mg/m² weekly vs. day 1, 8 every 22 days) may increase pathologic complete response (pCR) rate. The addition of denosumab to NACT did not improve pCR rates as recently published.

Background: Patients undergoing high-risk surgery show haemodynamic instability and an increased risk of morbidity. However, most of the available data concentrate on the intraoperative period. This study aims to characterise patients with advanced haemodynamic monitoring throughout the whole perioperative period using electrical cardiometry.

Chlormethiazole as a hypnotic in elderly patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

The study objective was to estimate the efficacy and safety of chlormethiazole in older adults experiencing insomnia (sleep disorder). We therefore systematically searched Medline, Scopus, the Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, Ovid, ZB MED and PMC through December 2021 for randomized-controlled trials including patients > 60 years old with insomnia treated with chlormethiazole. Standardized mean differences or odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were calculated for the main outcome parameters: sleep duration, onset of sleep, quality of sleep, adverse events or drop-out rates compared with placebo and other drugs.

The exact mechanism of desmoplastic stromal reaction (DSR) formation is still unclear. Breast cancer remains the most common cause of cancer death among women. Despite its considerable histological and molecular heterogeneity, those characteristics are not distinguished in most definitions of oligometastatic disease and clinical trials of oligometastatic breast cancer. After an exhaustive review of the literature covering all aspects of oligometastatic breast cancer, 35 experts from the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Imaging and Breast Cancer Groups elaborated a Delphi questionnaire aimed at offering consensus recommendations, including oligometastatic breast cancer definition, optimal diagnostic pathways, and clinical trials required to evaluate the effect of diagnostic imaging strategies and metastasis-directed therapies.
