Purpose: Recently, a new CT scan classification of the extent of previous endoscopic sinus surgery called The Amsterdam Classification of Completness of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (ACCESS) was published. The aim of this study was to investigate possible associations between traditionally used Lund-Mackay CT score and ACCESS score and their possible relationship to pre- and postoperative quality of life in a narrowly defined group of patients with recurrent CRSwNP.
Methods: Forty-nine patients who underwent a revision ESS for CRSwNP were enrolled in a retrospective study.

Background: Bronchopleural fistula (BPF) is a rare but severe complication following bronchoplasty. Identification of the risk factors for the development of BPF after bronchoplasty may contribute to better perioperative management, thereby further improving the prognosis of these patients. However, few studies have focused on the risk factors for BPF after bronchoplasty.

Background: A large part of the population in Germany makes use of naturopathic, complementary and integrative medical treatments. There are now numerous scientific studies that provide evidence of efficacy for certain indications. At German medical faculties, selected procedures and their application are taught within the cross-sectoral unit called QB 12 and some elective courses, with a focus on specific aspects are offered.

To compare minimally invasive video-assisted parathyroidectomy (MIVAP) versus conventional surgery for renal hyperparathyroidism (rHPT). Between 2006 and 2020, 53 patients underwent MIVAP and 182 underwent conventional parathyroidectomy for rHPT at the Kliniken Essen-Mitte and Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum, respectively. Two propensity score-matched groups were retrospectively analyzed: the MIVAP group (VG; n = 53) and the conventional group (CG; n = 53).

Importance: Adjuvant denosumab might improve disease-free survival in hormone receptor (HR)-positive primary breast cancer (BC). The optimal neoadjuvant nab-paclitaxel schedule in terms of efficacy and safety is unclear.
Objective: To determine whether adding denosumab to anthracycline/taxane-containing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) increases the pathological complete response (pCR) rate and which nab-paclitaxel schedule is more effective in the NACT setting.

Objective: Both the location of primary disease and treatment side effects may have an impact on sexual function in oncogynecological patients. The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence, strategies, difficulties, and ideas for improvement in sexual counseling among specialists managing patients with gynecologic malignancies.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey study performed among healthcare professionals treating patients with gynecologic malignancies.

Background: A high percentage of epithelial ovarian cancers (EOC) express the estrogen receptor (ER), which is an ideal target for endocrine therapy. Letrozole is a proven, potent aromatase inhibitor, extensively tested and used in the treatment of ER positive breast cancer. In addition, it seems a potent drug for patients with heavily pre-treated OC as demonstrated in several distinctive settings.

Aim: To report the final results of the 5-year follow-up of the non-randomized SafeHER Phase III study (NCT01566721) describing the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of subcutaneous (SC) trastuzumab alone and in combination with concurrent or sequential chemotherapy.
Methods: Patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive early breast cancer (EBC) with no prior anti-HER2 therapy were included. SC trastuzumab was administered every 3 weeks for 18 cycles as adjuvant therapy with or without chemotherapy (concurrent or sequential).
Background And Objective: This systematic review evaluated the effectiveness, tolerability and safety of cannabis-based medicines (CbMs) for chronic non-cancer pain (CNCP) in long-term observational studies.
Databases And Data Treatment: CENTRAL, EMBASE and MEDLINE were searched until December 2021. We included prospective observational studies with a study duration ≥26 weeks.

Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a burdensome sequela of cancer treatments. Besides exercise, recommended therapies for CRF include yoga, psychosocial, and mindfulness-based interventions. However, interventions conducted vary widely, and not all show a significant effect.

Introduction: Alcohol consumption in Germany is associated with considerable health and economic consequences. In addition to prevention, the early detection and differential treatment of those affected play an important role. The guideline "Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorders" forms the basis of this care for people suffering from alcohol use disorders.

Background: Although the benefit of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) continuation in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) remains controversial, clinical evidence is lacking. Recent results indicated that treatment with abiraterone acetate (AA) plus prednisone (P) further suppresses serum testosterone levels over ADT alone, suggesting that continuation of ADT in the treatment of mCRPC may not be necessary.
Methods: In this exploratory phase 2 study, mCRPC patients were randomized with a 1:1 ratio to receive either continued ADT plus AA + P (Arm A) or AA + P alone (Arm B).

The interest on partial adrenalectomy has steadily increased over the past twenty years. Adrenal pathologies are mostly benign, making an organ-preserving procedure attractive for many patients. The introduction of minimally invasive techniques played probably an important role in this process because they transformed a complex surgical procedure, related to the difficult access to the retroperitoneal space, into a simple operation improving the accessibility to this organ.

Background: Several de-escalation neoadjuvant strategies have been investigated to reduce the use of chemotherapy in HER2-positive early breast cancer using pathological complete response as a surrogate endpoint; there are few survival data from these trials. Here, we report 5-year survival data in the WSG-ADAPT-HER2+/HR- trial and address the effect of pathological complete response, early therapy response, and molecular subtype.
Methods: WSG-ASAPT-HER2+/HR-, a part of the ADAPT umbrella trial performed in patients with different subtypes of early breast cancer, was an investigator-initiated, multicentre, open-label, randomised, phase 2 trial done at 40 Breast Cancer Centres in Germany.

Introduction: Clinical stage 1 (CS1) nonseminomatous (NS) germ cell tumors involve a 30% probability of relapse upon surveillance. Adjuvant chemotherapy with one course of bleomycin, etoposide, and cisplatin (1xBEP) can reduce this risk to <5%. However, 1xBEP results are based solely on five controlled trials from high-volume centers.

Concerning follow-up in bladder cancer, it must be distinguished between superficial, muscle-invasive, and metastatic tumors. In superficial bladder cancer, urethrocystoscopy is still standard for follow-up. Frequency depends on the risk classification.

Aim: Demand for nipple- and skin- sparing mastectomy (NSM/SSM) with immediate breast reconstruction (BR) has increased at the same time as indications for post-mastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) have broadened. The aim of the Oncoplastic Breast Consortium initiative was to address relevant questions arising with this clinically challenging scenario.
Methods: A large global panel of oncologic, oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeons, patient advocates and radiation oncologists developed recommendations for clinical practice in an iterative process based on the principles of Delphi methodology.
