Pedobarographic Measurements of Rheumatoid Feet Compared with Clinical Parameters.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between plantar pressure pedobarographic measurements and disease activity, radiological abnormalities, and foot indexes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Methods: Sociodemographics, foot symptoms, anatomical distribution, pain intensity and duration, and podiatry services access data were collected. Disease activity scale of 28 joints (DAS28) was used for the disease activity, and Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) was used for the functional status.

Assessment of the Functioning Levels and Related Factors in Patients with Bipolar Disorder during Remission.

Introduction: The course of bipolar disorder (BD) is characterized by relapse and remission periods. Although the symptoms show a significant and sometimes almost complete improvement during remission, the patients' functioning levels may be lower compared to the premorbid period. This study aimed to compare the functional levels between patients with BD during remission period and healthy controls and to evaluate the factors related to the functional status of the patients.

Objective: Glial tumor growth may accelerate during gestation, but epidemiological studies consistently demonstrated that parousity reduces life long risk of glial tumors. Pregnancy may also accelerate growth of medulloblastoma and meningioma, but parousity does not confer protection against these tumors. We were the first to show that medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) reduces rat C6 glioma growth in vitro.

Ocular penetration of topically applied 1% tigecycline in a rabbit model.

Aim: To evaluate ocular penetration of topically applied 1% tigecycline.

Methods: Forty-two New Zealand White rabbits were divided into 3 groups. A 50 µL drop of 1% tigecycline was administered in group 1.

Comparison of life quality of pregnant adolescents with that of pregnant adults in Turkey.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the quality of life of pregnant adolescents aged < 20 years and pregnant adults aged between 20-29 years, to evaluate the effects of gestational periods on the quality of life, and to compare the quality of life scores of pregnant adolescents and adults.

Methods: This study was performed in Turkey in 2007. Totally, 147 pregnant adolescents aged < 20 years and 156 pregnant adults aged between 20 and 29 years were included.

Common embryological links to the optic pit and anterior segment structures.

Purpose: To analyze the anterior segment structures in patients with an optic disc pit to evaluate the common embryological links to the optic disc pit and anterior segment structures in these patients.

Methods: Ten patients with a unilateral optic disc pit detected during routine examination of the posterior pole and 15 healthy subjects as a control group underwent anterior segment analysis with Pentacam (Oculus, Inc., Wetzlar, Germany).

Background: The aim was to assess the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph II measurements in optic disc pit.

Methods: The study included 10 patients with a unilateral optic disc pit. The patients had no other ocular conditions except refractive errors.
