[Recent advances on EUS, EUS-FNA].

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has widened its applications and been become an indispensable examination. Recent advances is as follows: Electronic radial scanning EUS, three-dimensional EUS (3D-EUS), enhancement, elastography, and EUS-FNA. Because of electronic radial scanning EUS, we can employ Doppler function.

Current status and future perspective of interventional endoscopic ultrasound in Japan.

Vilmann and Grimm made the first reports of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-fine needle aspiration (FNA), and since then EUS-FNA has become popular in the clinical fields, especially in Western countries. Furthermore interventional EUS such as pseudocyst drainage, EUS-guided biliary drainage, celiac plexus neurolysis, and dendritic cell injection, etc. have been introduced.
