The Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) Proteomics Standards Initiative (PSI) has been successfully developing guidelines, data formats, and controlled vocabularies (CVs) for the proteomics community and other fields supported by mass spectrometry since its inception 20 years ago. Here we describe the general operation of the PSI, including its leadership, working groups, yearly workshops, and the document process by which proposals are thoroughly and publicly reviewed in order to be ratified as PSI standards. We briefly describe the current state of the many existing PSI standards, some of which remain the same as when originally developed, some of which have undergone subsequent revisions, and some of which have become obsolete.

Heterotypic endomembrane fusion between static GLUT4-containing vesicles and traveling transferrin receptor-containing endosomes triggers insulin-responsive translocation of the GLUT4 glucose transporter. Here, we provide a protocol for preparing BODIPY-based fluorescent sensor molecules allowing detection of heterotypic endomembrane fusion through dequenching via streptavidin-biotin binding and ratiometrically analyzing insulin-responsive events with live-cell imaging. Although this protocol is for evaluating specific fusion processes relating GLUT4 translocation, it is also applicable to assessing other processes so long as sensor molecules can properly label target molecules.

Since then, the medical care system for LSS has changed and many new articles regarding the epidemiology and diagnostics of LSS, conservative treatments such as new pharmacotherapy and physical therapy, and surgical treatments including minimally invasive surgery have been published. Quantitative features of GLUT4 glucose transporter's behavior deep inside cells remain largely unknown. Benzo[de]isoquinolino[1,8-gh]quinolinetetracarboxylic diimide (BQQDI) is an n-type organic semiconductor that has shown unique multi-fold intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions, leading to aggregated structures with excellent charge transports and electron mobility properties. However, the strong intermolecular anchoring of BQQDI presents challenges for fine-tuning the molecular assembly and improving the semiconducting properties. Herein, we report the design and synthesis of two BQQDI derivatives with phenyl- and cyclohexyl substituents (Ph-BQQDI and Cy-BQQDI), where the two organic semiconductors show distinct molecular assemblies and degrees of intermolecular orbital overlaps.

Lumbar lateral interbody fusion (LLIF) has been gaining popularity among the spine surgeons dealing with degenerative spinal diseases while LLIF on L5-S1 is still challenging for its technical and anatomical difficulty. OLIF51 procedure achieves effective anterior interbody fusion based on less invasive anterior interbody fusion via bifurcation of great vessels using specially designed retractors. The technique also achieves seamless anterior interbody fusion when combined with OLIF25.

This study investigated the influence of viral interference on the detection of enteric viruses using the integrated cell culture (ICC)-PCR with a BGM cell line. It was possible to detect 10 plaque-forming units (PFU)/flask of enterovirus 71 (EV71) in spite of the presence of 10 PFU/flask of adenovirus 40 (AdV40). Meanwhile, 10 PFU/flask of AdV40 was not detected in the presence of 10 PFU/flask of EV71.

Reducing the incidence of infection by improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is one of five objectives in the World Health Organization's (WHO) Global Action Plan on AMR. In September 2019, WHO and the Health-Related Water Microbiology specialist group (HRWM-SG) of the International Water Association (IWA) organized its third workshop on AMR, focusing on the following three main issues: environmental pathways of AMR transmission, environmental surveillance, and removal from human waste.

In this study, we investigated the impact of GD1a-expressing bacterial strains on the infectivity of murine norovirus (MNV). Eligible bacterial strains were screened from a sewage sample using flow cytometry, and their genetic sequences of 16S rRNA were determined. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was employed to analyze the binding between bacteria and MNV particles, and the plaque assay was used to assess the effects of GD1a-positive and negative strains on MNV infectivity.
