Evaluation of Complementary Feeding Indicators Among Children Aged 6-23 Months According to the Health Literacy Status of Their Mothers.

Background/objectives: Infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices directly affect child health, development, and survival, especially under 2 years of age and ultimately affect adult life well-being. As the primary caregivers of the children, mothers with higher health literacy may better perceive the benefits of optimal complementary feeding practices, leading to improved health outcomes for their children. In this study, we aimed to assess complementary feeding practices among children aged 6-23 months in Turkey according to 2021 World Health Organization IYCF indicators [minimum dietary diversity (MDD); minimum meal frequency (MMF); minimum acceptable diet (MAD); egg and/or flesh food consumption (EFF); sweet beverage consumption (SwB); unhealthy food consumption (UFC); zero vegetable or fruit consumption (ZVF); and bottle feeding (BoF)] and investigate their associations with sociodemographic characteristics and mothers' health literacy.

Is YouTube a quality source of information on sarcopenia?

Background: While sarcopenia is a prevalent disorder that affects muscle mass and quality, patients have limited knowledge of it. On the other hand, patients often use social media to obtain health-specific information. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the YouTube videos about sarcopenia in terms of the knowledge value of what they present and to identify which of them can be considered as the quality sources of such information.

Agreement and repeatability of central corneal thickness measurements by four different optical devices and an ultrasound pachymeter.

Purpose: To compare the repeatability and agreement of central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT), corneal topography (CT) with a combined Scheimpflug-Placido system, optical biometry (OB), specular microscopy (SM), and ultrasound pachymetry (UP).

Methods: A single observer measured CCT twice in 150 eyes of 150 subjects with each of five devices: Nidek RS-3000 Advance OCT, CSO Sirius combined Scheimpflug-Placido disc system CT, Nidek AL-Scan partial coherence interferometry-based OB, Tomey EM-3000 SM, and Reichert iPac ultrasonic pachymeter. Pachymetry values corrected by the SM device software were also recorded.

Current practice of allergy diagnosis and the potential impact of regulation in Europe.

In the European Union (EU), the regulatory framework regarding diagnostic allergen extracts is currently in the process of being implemented at the national level. Due to these regulations, the initial and periodic renewal expenses for the registration of diagnostic allergen extracts may render extract production unprofitable. Consequently, many extracts may be at risk of removal from the market.
