End of life care at home: The role of critical care transfer services.

Background: Most people would rather die at home than in hospital but only 18% of patients do so. Palliative care focuses on the physical, spiritual and psychosocial wellbeing of patients and their families, which should include facilitating transfers home when possible. Patients can have more autonomy over their care and be surrounded by loved ones which can have a significant impact on their quality of life.

Radiogenomic biomarkers for immunotherapy in glioblastoma: A systematic review of magnetic resonance imaging studies.

Background: Immunotherapy is an effective "precision medicine" treatment for several cancers. Imaging signatures of the underlying genome (radiogenomics) in glioblastoma patients may serve as preoperative biomarkers of the tumor-host immune apparatus. Validated biomarkers would have the potential to stratify patients during immunotherapy clinical trials, and if trials are beneficial, facilitate personalized neo-adjuvant treatment.

Can the introduction of a 12-lead ECG help reduce mortality in those presenting with foot ulceration to multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinics? An observational evaluation of a real-world implementation pilot in England.

Aims/hypothesis: The risk of dying within 2 years of presentation with diabetic foot ulceration is over six times the risk of amputation, with CVD the major contributor. Using an observational evaluation of a real-world implementation pilot, we aimed to assess whether for those presenting with diabetic foot ulceration in England, introducing a 12-lead ECG into routine care followed by appropriate clinical action was associated with reduced mortality.

Methods: Between July 2014 and December 2017, ten multidisciplinary diabetic foot services in England participated in a pilot project introducing 12-lead ECGs for new attendees with foot ulceration.

The present cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence of thrombocytopenia in patients with cyanotic congenital heart defects (CCHD).

Is painful temporomandibular disorder a real headache for many patients?

Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) and primary headaches are common pain conditions and often co-exist. TMD classification includes the term 'headache secondary to TMD' but this term does not acknowledge the likelihood that primary headache pathophysiology underpins headache causing painful TMD signs and symptoms in many patients. The two disorders have a complex link and we do not fully understand their interrelationship.

Bariatric surgery (BS) is an effective weight loss solution however its role in the paediatric population is contentious owing to the paucity of weight specific and generalised health outcomes. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the impact of paediatric BS on bone health.

Delivering Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Care in Parkinson's Disease: An International Consensus Statement.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder impacting everyday function and quality of life. Rehabilitation plays a crucial role in improving symptoms, function, and quality of life and reducing disability, particularly given the lack of disease-modifying agents and limitations of medications and surgical therapies. However, rehabilitative care is under-recognized and under-utilized in PD and often only utilized in later disease stages, despite research and guidelines demonstrating its positive effects.

Objective: Social determinants of health (SDH) are important determinants of long-term conditions and multimorbidity in the general population. The intersecting relationship between SDH and multimorbidity in people with HIV remains poorly studied.

Design: A cross-sectional study investigating the relationships between eight socio-economic parameters and prevalent comorbidities of clinical significance and multimorbidity in adults of African ancestry with HIV aged 18-65 years in South London, UK.

Cardiac arrest in vascular surgical patients receiving anaesthetic care: an analysis from the 7th National Audit Project (NAP7) of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

The 7th National Audit Project of the Royal College of Anaesthetists studied peri-operative cardiac arrest in the UK. We report the results of the vascular surgery cohort from the 12-month case registry, from 16 June 2021 to 15 June 2022. Anaesthesia for vascular surgery accounted for 2% of UK anaesthetic caseload and included 69 (8%) reported peri-operative cardiac arrests, giving an estimated incidence of 1 in 670 vascular anaesthetics (95%CI 1 in 520-830).

This review aimed to map and synthesize evidence on the use of VCs in upper limb musculoskeletal rehabilitation, describe key characteristics, and identify gaps in the research.

Methods: This scoping review investigated synchronous rehabilitation consultations performed over VC.
