Escalating energy demands have often ignited ground-breaking innovations in the current era of electrochemical energy storage systems. Supercapacitors (SCs) have emerged as frontrunners in this regard owing to their exclusive features such ultra-high cyclic stability, power density, and ability to be derived from sustainable sources. Despite their promising attributes, they typically fail in terms of energy density, which poses a significant hindrance to their widespread commercialization.

Impairment of gut barrier integrity is associated with the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and coeliac disease. While many aspects of diet have been linked to improved barrier function, (poly)phenols, a broad group of bioactive phytochemicals, are of potential interest. The (poly)phenolic sub-class, flavan-3-ols, have been investigated in some detail owing to their abundance in commonly consumed foods, including grapes, tea, apples, cocoa, berries, and nuts.

Recent advances in cancer therapy have been made possible by monoclonal antibodies, domain antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, The most impact has come from controlling cell cycle checkpoints through checkpoint inhibitors. This manuscript explores the potential of a series of novel -benzyl isatin based hydrazones (5-25), which were synthesized and evaluated as anti-breast cancer agents. The synthesized hydrazones of -benzyl isatin were screened against two cell lines, the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line and the MCF-10A breast epithelial cell line.

Mild steel provides strength to various building and industrial materials but it is badly affected by corrosion. In the present study, we investigate the efficacy of , a plant-based green corrosion inhibitor to minimize mild steel corrosion in a 1 M HSO solution. Weight loss, surface coverage, inhibition efficiency, and corrosion rate measurements were evaluated for various inhibitor concentrations and time intervals.

Hepatic steatosis/non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a major public health delinquent caused by the excess deposition of lipid into lipid droplets (LDs) as well as metabolic dysregulation. Hepatic cells buildup with more fat molecules when a person takes high fat diet that is excessive than the body can handle. At present, millions of people in the world are affected by this problem.

Clinical and molecular analysis of ESBL, carbapenemase, and colistin-resistant bacteria in UTI patients.

Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand)

January 2025

Jiangxi Key Laboratory of Oncology (2024SSY06041), Jiangxi Cancer Hospital & Institute, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang Medical College, Nanchang, Jiangxi, 330029, P.R. China.

Uropathogens, particularly bacteria, can infect any part of the urinary tract and cause bacteriuria. Our study aimed to examine the antibiotic-resistant profile, associated risk factors, and phenotypic and genotypic features of ESBL, carbapenemase, and mcr resistance genes in multidrug-resistant bacteria. Samples were inoculated on culture media, identified using standard biochemical tests, and species confirmation was performed via 16S rRNA gene amplification.

Resource partitioning is crucial for the coexistence of colonial herons, as it allows multiple species to share the same habitat while minimising competition. This study took advantage of a natural experiment in 2006 and 2007 when Black-crowned Night Herons were prevented from breeding at Lake Fetzara in the first year due to the presence of a feral cat. This event provided valuable insight into the spatial and temporal dynamics of nest site selection among coexisting heron species, which consisted of Cattle Egrets (), Little Egrets () and Squacco Herons ().

Aim: Autosomal recessive primary hyperoxalurias (PH) are genetic disorders characterised by elevated oxalate production. Mutations in genes involved in glycoxylate metabolism are the underlying cause of PH. Type 1 PH (PH1) results in malfunctioning of alanine-glyoxylate aminotransferase enzymes of liver due to a change in the genetic sequence of alanine-glyoxylate aminotransferase (AGXT) gene.

Article Synopsis
  • Hyperlipidemia is linked to poor diet and inactivity, but prebiotics and probiotics, like those found in mushrooms and kefir milk, could help address its effects.
  • A study tested dried powdered mushrooms (DPM) and kefir milk (KM) on hyperlipidemic rats, showing significant improvements in health markers such as body weight, blood glucose, and lipid profiles when DPM and KM were included in their diet.
  • The findings suggest that the combination of DPM and KM could serve as functional foods to reduce hyperlipidemia and enhance gut health, but further research on humans is necessary.
