Background: Cellulolytic, hemicellulolytic, and amylolytic (CHA) enzyme-producing halophiles are understudied. The recently defined taxon consists of one well-described anaerobic bacterial strain: NS-1. Prior to characterization of strain NS-1, an isolate designated sp.

Hot air drying is an alternative technique to either maintain or increase bioactive compounds in agricultural products because temperatures can be controlled. The effects of different hot air oven drying temperatures and times on the physicochemical changes, bioactive compounds (capsaicinoids, phenolic and flavonoid profiles and contents) and antioxidant activities in dried 'Super Hot' chili fruits were evaluated. The chilies were dried in a hot air oven at low (60-100 °C) or high (120-160 °C) temperatures for 30, 60, 120 min and at 12-13% moisture content (MC).

Reptiles are the most species-rich terrestrial vertebrate group with a broad diversity of life history traits. Biotelemetry is an essential methodology for studying reptiles as it compensates for several limitations when studying their natural history. We evaluated trends in terrestrial reptile spatial ecology studies focusing upon quantifying home ranges for the past twenty years.

The genome-scale metabolic model of a lipid-overproducing strain of WJ11 was developed. The model (NI1159) contained 1,159 genes, 648 EC numbers, 1,537 metabolites, and 1,355 metabolic reactions, which were localized in different compartments of the cell. Using flux balance analysis (FBA), the NI1159 model was validated by predicting the specific growth rate.

Background: Bioactive peptides can prevent damage associated with oxidative stress in humans when consumed regularly. Recently, peptides have attracted immense interest because of their beneficial functional properties, safety and little or no side effects when used at high concentration. Most antioxidant peptides are small in size, less than 1 kDa, and contains a high proportion of hydrophobic amino acid.
