In this registry-based study we retrospectively compared outcomes of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) for adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) following conditioning with total body irradiation (TBI) combined with either cyclophosphamide (Cy) or fludarabine (Flu). TBI 12 Gy + Cy was used in 2105 cases while TBI 12 Gy + Flu was administered to 150 patients in first or second complete remission. In a multivariate model adjusted for other prognostic factors, TBI/Cy conditioning was associated with a reduced risk of relapse (HR = 0.

Background: Gliomas with IDH1/2 mutations without 1p19q codeletion have been identified as the distinct diagnostic entity of IDH mutant astrocytoma (IDHmut astrocytoma). Homozygous deletion of Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 inhibitor A/B (CDKN2A/B) has recently been incorporated in the grading of these tumors. The question of whether histologic parameters still contribute to prognostic information on top of the molecular classification, remains unanswered.

Diarrhoeal diseases are one of the leading worldwide preventable causes of death among children under 5 years of age. Almost half of children do not receive optimal acute gastroenteritis (AGE) treatment in Jordan. With neither regional nor local guidelines available for AGE, consensus recommendations on the management of paediatric AGE in Jordan were developed by a panel of senior paediatricians and paediatric gastroenterologists and are endorsed by the Jordanian Paediatric Society.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for 90% of liver tumours and is one of the leading causes of mortality. Cirrhosis due to viral hepatitis, alcohol or steatohepatitis is the major risk factor, while liver dysfunction due to cirrhosis is a deciding factor in its treatment. The treatment modalities for HCC include liver transplant, hepatectomy, radiofrequency ablation, transarterial chemoembolisation, transarterial radioembolisation, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy.

Uveal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy in adults, characterized by an insidious onset and poor prognosis strongly associated with tumor size and the presence of distant metastases, most commonly in the liver. Contrary to most tumor identification, a biopsy followed by a pathological exam is used only in certain cases. Therefore, an early and noninvasive diagnosis is essential to enhance patients' chances for early treatment.

Cancer patients exhibit an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), with VTE being the second leading cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. The implementation of lockdowns following the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in decreased mobility and delayed access to care, thus further increasing the susceptibility to VTE. Cancer patients may also be at a higher risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and have been shown to be more likely to experience severe COVID-19 disease compared to patients without cancer.

Background: Palliative care (PC) aims to relieve a person's suffering and provide the best possible quality of life (QoL) to people with chronic illnesses. Despite the significant impact of PC services on the QoL of patients, barriers exist that prevent healthcare providers from facilitating PC in intensive care units (ICUs).
Aim: The purpose of this study was to explore the perceived barriers to implementing PC in ICUs.
