Childhood injuries are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with mothers often being the first responders in such emergencies. In Saudi Arabia, despite high educational attainment, maternal preparedness for pediatric first aid remains underexplored. This study aims to evaluate maternal knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) concerning pediatric first aid in Riyadh, with a focus on identifying key gaps and informing interventions in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

Epidermal growth factor receptor EGFR inhibitors are widely used as first line therapy for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in patients harboring EGFR mutation. However, the acquisition of a second-site mutation (T790 M) limited the efficacy and developed resistance. Therefore, discovery and development of specific drug target for this mutation is of urgent needs.

Introduction: Spinopelvic dissociation was described first in 1969. It is an injury characterized by the separation of the lumbar spine, with parts of the sacrum, from the rest of the sacrum and pelvis with the appendicular skeleton through the sacral ala. Spinopelvic dissociation has an incidence of approximately 2.

COVID-19 may result in acute respiratory distress (ARDS) in patients with the severe form of the disease. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can support respiratory gas interchange in patients failing conventional methods, but its effectiveness in COVID patients is still debatable. The aim of this study is to find the survival outcomes of patients with and without COVID-19 ARDS who were supported with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

We are reporting a rare case of infected inguinal wounds post bilateral microsurgical varicocelectomy which led to persistent bilateral wound sinus formation. After multiple bedside wound debridement and sinus tract excision in operation theater, the patient's wounds were healed.

The use of bacterial ghosts (BGs) for drug delivery is an extremely fascinating perspective especially with the inherited efficient target-ability to specialized tissues. Trafficking of drug molecules across the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria are important to be understood for both loading (influx) and drug release (efflux). In this study, () BGs were prepared using modified protocol sponge-like reduced protocol (SLRP) which was used for loading of doxorubicin (DOX).

Objectives: We retrospectively evaluate local control rate at 6 months and 1 year in oligometastatic cancer patients treated with SBRT using CyberKnife.
Methods: Total of 21 patients with 24 treatment sites from February 2014 till June 2017 who were treated with SBRT in our institution were included in this study.
Results: Eleven patients were males, 10 patients were females, median age at diagnosis was 63 years, and colorectal cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in 18 patients.

Owing to their structural novelty and inherent three-dimensionality, spiro scaffolds have been shown indisputable promise as chemopreventive agents. A new series of heterocycles containing spirooxindole and pyrrolidine rings were synthesized by the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of an azomethine ylide, which was generated in situ by the condensation of a secondary amino acid (l‑proline) and dicarbonyl compounds (isatin), with dipolarophiles. This method is simple and provides diverse and biologically interesting products.

A new series of quinazolinone compounds 16-34 incorporating isatin moieties was synthesized. The antitumor efficacy of the compounds against MDA-MB-231, a breast cancer cell line, and LOVO, a colon cancer cell line, was assessed. Compounds 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, and 34 displayed potent antitumor activity against MDA-MB-231 and LOVO cells (IC: 10.

The 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of an azomethine ylide generated from isatin and thiazolidinecarboxylic acid to a series of 2,6-bis[(E)-arylmethylidene]cyclohexanones afforded new di-spiro heterocycles incorporating pyrrolidine and oxindole rings in quantitative yields and chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectively. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized using spectroscopic techniques. Furthermore, the molecular structures of 4a, 4e, and 4n were confirmed by X-ray crystallography.

Cell surface molecule CD44 plays a major role in regulation of cancer stem cells CSCs on both phenotypic and functional level, however chemical inhibition approach of CD44 to targets CSCs is poorly studied. Herein, we report the discovery of certain N'-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)-2-(benzyloxy)benzohydrazides as a novel inhibitor of CD44. Molecular docking study showed interference of the scaffold of these compounds with β-catenin/TCF-4 complex, building a direct relationship between CD44 inhibition and observed well-fitted binding domain.

A novel series of newly synthesized thiophene derivatives, ethyl-4,5-dimethyl-2-(3-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)thioureido)thiophene-3-carboxylate 3, ethyl-2-[(2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy)mercapto)methyleneamino)]-4,5-dimethyl-thiophene-3-carboxylate 9, thienopyrimidines 4, 7, 10-20, triazolothienopyrimidines 5, 6 were prepared and tested for their antiproliferative activity. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, (1)H-NMR, (13)C-NMR and mass spectral data. The results showed that the synthesized compounds were more active on breast cancer than on colon cancer cell lines and the most potent compounds in this study are compounds 3 and 13 which exerted remarkable activity against MDA-MB-231 (breast cancer) and HT-29 (colon cancer) cell lines with IC50 values (40.

Drug discovery programs for preclinical oncology typically select compounds which have a predilection for inducing cytotoxic effects in cancer cell lines and subsequently, for inhibiting the growth of the transplanted cancer cells in vivo (Winquist et al., 2010). Unfortunately, the cytotoxic effect in vitro and inhibition of tumor growth in animal models are not the end story for curing cancer in preclinical models.
