Workplace drug testing (WDT) is essential to prevent drug abuse disorders among the workforce because it can impair work performance and safety. However, WDT is limited by many challenges, such as urine adulteration, specimen selection, and new psychoactive substances (NPS). This review examined the issues related to WDT.

In this retrospective analysis of allogeneic UCBT for FA performed between 1988 and 2021 in European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT)-affiliated centers, a total of 205 FA patients underwent UCBT (55 related and 150 unrelated) across 77 transplant centers.

Epidemiology of tuberculosis in Saudi Arabia following the implementation of end tuberculosis strategy: Analysis of the surveillance data 2015-2019.

Objectives: To analyze the evolution of tuberculosis (TB) epidemiology in Saudi Arabia in the 5 years following the implementation of the end-TB Strategy.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of surveillance data, reported by the national tuberculosis control program from 2015-2019, was carried out. The annual incidence and the percentage of yearly changes were calculated and compared to the World Health Organization (WHO) milestones, which anticipate a 4-5% annual decline.

Background: While family history (FHx) of prostate cancer (PCa) increases the risk of PCa, comparably less is known regarding the impact of FHx on pathologic and oncologic outcomes after radical prostatectomy (RP).

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our multicenter database comprising 6,041 nonmetastatic PCa patients treated with RP. Patients with a FHx of PCa in one or more first-degree relatives were considered as FHx positive.

Early detection of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease allows for initiation and reinforcement of guidance on bodyweight management, risk stratification for advanced liver fibrosis, and treatment optimisation of diabetes and other metabolic complications. Identification of alcohol-related liver disease provides the opportunity to support patients with detoxification and abstinence programmes.

Child dental neglect and legal protections: a compendium of briefs from policy reviews in 26 countries and a special administrative region of China.

Background: Child neglect is a public health, human rights, and social problem, with potentially devastating and costly consequences. The aim of this study was to: (1) summarize the oral health profile of children across the globe; (2) provide a brief overview of legal instruments that can offer children protection from dental neglect; and (3) discuss the effectiveness of these legal instruments.

Methods: We summarized and highlighted the caries profile and status of implementation of legislation on child dental neglect for 26 countries representing the World Health Organization regions: five countries in Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Zimbabwe), eight in the Americas (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Unites States of America, Uruguay), six in the Eastern Mediterranean (Egypt, Iran, Libya, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia), four in Europe (Italy, Latvia, Serbia, United Kingdom), two in South-East Asia (India and Indonesia) and one country (China) with its special administrative region (Hong Kong) in the Western Pacific.

Leber hereditary optic neuropathy presenting as bilateral visual loss and white matter disease.

Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) is a rare maternally inherited mitochondrial disorder that typically affects young male adults in their second and third decades of life. It usually manifests as painless, subacute, progressive, bilateral vision loss, with more than 90% of affected individuals losing their vision before age 50. Compared with other diseases that cause optic neuritis (multiple sclerosis or neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders), LHON has worsening visual function in the first 6-12 months of disease progression, is predominantly male, the optic nerve is affected bilaterally from onset, there is no gadolinium enhancement on MRI, no response to disease-modifying therapy, and there is a family history of mutation in mitochondrial DNA.

11-Nor-9-Carboxy Tetrahydrocannabinol Distribution in Fluid from the Chest Cavity in Cannabis-Related Post-Mortem Cases.

Unlabelled: In this study, the presence of 11-nor-Δ-carboxy tetrahydrocannabinol (THC-COOH) in postmortem fluid obtained from the chest cavity (FCC) of postmortem cases collected from drug-related fatalities or criminal-related deaths in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was investigated to evaluate its suitability for use as a complementary specimen to blood and biological specimens in cases where no bodily fluids are available or suitable for analysis. The relationships between THC-COOH concentrations in the FCC samples and age, body mass index (BMI), polydrug intoxication, manner, and cause of death were investigated.

Methods: Fifteen postmortem cases of FCC were analyzed using fully validated liquid chromatography-positive-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is exceedingly rare in the breast, with <45 cases reported in the literature. Although estrogen receptor/progesterone receptor/human epidermal growth factor 2 triple-negative, MEC is characterized as a special subtype of breast carcinoma with significantly better prognosis than conventional basal-type tumors. Cutaneous hidradenoma (HA) is considered a benign adnexal neoplasm showing histomorphologic overlap with MEC.

Intraoral angiosarcoma with unusual clinical presentation: A case report.

Introduction: Angiosarcoma is a rare and highly aggressive soft tissue malignancy originating from vascular and lymphatic endothelial cells. Epithelioid angiosarcoma is the rarest subtype of angiosarcoma, characterized by the proliferation of large polygonal cells with an epithelioid feature. The occurrence of these tumors in the oral cavity is highly uncommon, and immunohistochemistry staining is essential to differentiate epithelioid angiosarcoma from mimicking lesions.

Automatic refill programs are targeting the promotion of medication adherence; however, there is a potential concern regarding the possible wastage of medications contributed by these programs due to the reduced patient involvement in the refill medication dispensing cycle. We evaluated the impact of an automatic refill program on antiretroviral medication use.

Comparison between different neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens and local therapy alone for bladder cancer: a systematic review and network meta-analysis of oncologic outcomes.

Methods: We used the Bayesian approach in NMA of six different therapy regimens cisplatin, cisplatin/doxorubicin, (gemcitabine/cisplatin) GC, cisplatin/methotrexate, methotrexate, cisplatin, and vinblastine (MCV) and (MVAC) compared to locoregional treatment.

Results: Fifteen studies comprised 4276 patients who met the eligibility criteria.
