Pericardial hydatid cysts presenting with atrial flutter and mitral regurgitation.

Despite being a rare phenomenon, pericardial hydatid cysts present unique diagnostic challenges and require a multimodality imaging as well as a multidisciplinary approach for a curative management. The authors here present a case of a middle aged man who was referred to them for management of new onset atrial flutter with mitral regurgitation.

The First Pituitary Proteome Landscape From Matched Anterior and Posterior Lobes for a Better Understanding of the Pituitary Gland.

To date, very few mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics studies are available on the anterior and posterior lobes of the pituitary. In the past, MS-based investigations have focused exclusively on the whole pituitary gland or anterior pituitary lobe. In this study, for the first time, we performed a deep MS-based analysis of five anterior and five posterior matched lobes to build the first lobe-specific pituitary proteome map, which documented 4090 proteins with isoforms, mostly mapped into chromosomes 1, 2, and 11.

A protein microarray-based serum proteomic investigation reveals distinct autoantibody signature in colorectal cancer.

Purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) has been reported as the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The 5-year annual survival is around 50%, mainly due to late diagnosis, striking necessity for early detection. This study aims to identify autoantibody in patients' sera for early screening of cancer.

Initial Experience with the Contour Device in the Treatment of Ruptured Intracranial Wide-necked Bifurcation Aneurysms: A Single-operator, Multicenter Study.

Background: Intrasaccular flow diverters are a new modality in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. The Contour device has been designed to offer a variety of advantages over existing endovascular treatment options for wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms. There is no available literature describing its use in treating ruptured aneurysms.

Metabolomics Profiling of Pituitary Adenomas by Raman Spectroscopy, Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, and Mass Spectrometry of Serum Samples.

To date, no studies are available in which pituitary adenomas (PAs) have been studied using techniques like confocal Raman spectroscopy, attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in the same serum samples. To understand the metabolomics fingerprint, Raman spectra of 16 acromegaly, 19 Cushing's, and 33 nonfunctional PA (NFPA) and ATR-FTIR spectral acquisition of 16 acromegaly, 18 Cushing's, and 22 NFPA patient's serum samples were acquired. Next, Principal component-based linear discriminant analysis (PC-LDA) models were developed, Raman spectral analysis classified acromegaly with an accuracy of 79.

Evaluation of autoantibody signatures in pituitary adenoma patients using human proteome arrays.

Purpose: To identify the specific diagnostic biomarkers related to pituitary adenomas (PAs), we performed serological antibody profiles for three types of PAs, namely Acromegaly, Cushing's and Nonfunctional Pituitary Adenomas (NFPAs), using the human proteome (HuProt) microarray. This is the first study describing the serum autoantibody profile of PAs.

Experimental Design: We performed serological autoantibody profiling of four healthy controls, four Acromegaly, three Cushing's and three NFPAs patient samples to obtain their autoantibody profiles, which were used for studying expression, interaction and altered biological pathways.

Pathogenesis, management strategies, and outcome of non-communicating extradural spinal arachnoid cyst (NEAC): a systematic review.

Objective: Non-communicating extradural spinal arachnoid cysts (NEACs) are extremely rare aetiology of symptomatic spinal cord compression. The aim of this study was to address their pathogenesis, optimum management strategy and outcome through systematic review of existing published studies.

Materials And Method: We have found 13 eligible publications by searching through PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases, published from inception to December 2020.

REtrospective Multicenter INdian Study of Derivo Embolization Device (REMIND): Periprocedural Safety.

Purpose: The treatment of aneurysms with characteristics such as complex morphology, fusiform, blister-like, wide neck, or large size has been revolutionized with the introduction of flow diverters. Though flow diverters have several advantages over coiling, they also have certain important disadvantages such as the lack of immediate protection against rupture, the risk of ischemic stroke, the need for antiplatelet therapy, and long latency for complete effect. The Derivo Embolization Device (DED) is a second-generation self-expanding device that is claimed to be less thrombogenic than conventional devices.

Recent advances in proteomics and its implications in pituitary endocrine disorders.

Pituitary adenoma is considered as one of the most frequent intracranial tumors having salient impact on human health such as mass effects, hypopituitarism and visual defects etc. During the past few decades, there has been enormous advancement in mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics. However, very little is known about the molecular pathogenesis of pituitary adenomas in the context of proteomics.

Chronic prolonged hyponatremia and risk of hip fracture in elderly patients with chronic kidney disease.

Background: Chronic prolonged hyponatremia (CPH) is a risk factor for hip fracture in the general population. Whether CPH increases hip fracture risk in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients is unknown.

Methods: Case-control study in patients over 60 years of age with stage 3 or greater CKD.

Extraspinal-Interdural Surgical Approach for C2 Neurinomas-Report of an Experience with 50 Cases.

Objective: We report our experience with surgery in 50 patients with C2 neurinomas. The anatomic subtleties of these discrete forms of tumors and their surgical implications are analyzed.

Methods: During the period 2006-2016, we operated on 50 patients with 55 C2 neurinomas.

Radiological Evaluation of 510 Cases of Basilar Invagination with Evidence of Atlantoaxial Instability (Group A Basilar Invagination).

Objective: To evaluate the musculoskeletal and soft tissue neural alterations in cases with group A basilar invagination.

Methods: Between January 2007 and August 2016, 510 patients with group A basilar invagination were surgically treated. The radiologic images of these patients were reviewed retrospectively.

Heterotopic Prostate at Autopsy- An Unusual Mass at the Dome of the Urinary Bladder.

Heterotopic prostate in the dome of the urinary bladder is extremely rare and difficult to diagnose. It is often mistaken for neoplastic masses and histopathological examination is warranted for diagnosis. We report an autopsy case of an ectopic prostate at the dome of the bladder which mimicked a neoplasm on gross pathology.

Rhinosporidiosis: A Rare Cause of Proptosis and an Imaging Dilemma for Sinonasal Masses.

Rhinosporidiosis is a common disease entity in tropical countries; however, it can be encountered in other parts of the world as well due to increasing medical tourism. It may mimic other more malignant and vigorous pathologies of the involved part. We present a case of a 36-year-old male presenting with proptosis due to involvement of nasolacrimal duct which is rare.

Ultra-extended euthermic pulsed radiofrequency for the treatment of ophthalmic neuralgia: A case report with elaboration of a new technique.

Background: Pulsed radiofrequency although present for many years has been used little compared to ablative procedures for pain relief. Its use in trigeminal neuralgia is sparse and unreported in the ophthalmic division, where the possibility of sensory loss can lead to high morbidity. We wished to explore the potential of this reportedly safe modality for a prolonged duration in a highly sensitive anatomic neural location, however, in a very secure, structured, and staged manner.

Acute renal failure in critically ill newborns increases the risk of death: a prospective observational study from India.

Objective: To determine the incidence and risk factors of acute renal failure (ARF) in hospitalized critically ill neonates and analyze outcome of all neonates with renal failure in relation to risk factors.

Material & Methods: In this prospective observational study 815 infants were enrolled. Renal profile (blood urea and serum creatinine) was done after 12 h of life (or at the time of admission for outborn babies) and then every 12 hourly.

"Ride-on" technique and other simple and logical solutions to counter most common complications of silicone implants in augmentation rhinoplasty.

Unlabelled: Augmentation rhinoplasty can be carried out using a wide range of materials including autologous bone and/or cartilage as well as alloplasts. Use of biologic bone and cartilage grafts results in lower infection rates, but they are associated with long-term resorption and donor-site morbidity. Alloplastic materials, in particular silicone, have been associated in literature with extrusion, necrosis of the tip, mobility and deviation or displacement of the implant, immobile nasal tip and infection.

Pan ventricular neurocytoma.

Central neurocytomas are intraventricular benign neoplasms located within the lateral ventricle adjacent to foramen of Monro. A rare case of a central neurocytoma extending throughout the entire ventricular system at the time of presentation is reported. The clinical course of this tumor in a 25-year-old male and its management are presented with relevant review of the literature.

Craniofrontonasal dysplasia associated with Chiari malformation.

Craniofrontonasal dysplasia (CFND) is a rare developmental anomaly associated with an X-linked inheritance. It is predominantly expressed in females. A Chiari malformation (CM) has not been reported in such patients earlier.
