Disability and depression among stroke survivors attending rehabilitation facilities at three designated tertiary care hospitals in Bangladesh: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Poststroke depression (PSD) is a highly prevalent and serious mental health condition affecting a significant proportion of stroke survivors worldwide. While its exact causes remain under investigation, managing PSD presents a significant challenge.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and predictors of depression among Bangladeshi stroke victims.

Variability of Psoriatic Arthritis Impact of Disease questionnaire (PsAID12) thresholds in psoriatic arthritis: data from the ReFlaP study.

Objectives: To explore thresholds for the Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) Impact of Disease questionnaire (PsAID12) score against disease activity measures in an observational setting, in patients with PsA.

Methods: The baseline data from the ReFlaP observational, prospective, multicentre and international study was used (NCT03119805). Cutoffs for PsAID12 were determined against disease activity scores, defining disease impact states (ie remission, low impact, moderate impact and high impact).

Clinical and Radiologic Differences in Lung Involvement Between IgG4-Related Disease and Plasma Cell-Type Idiopathic Multicentric Castleman Disease.

Purposes: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) and plasma cell-type idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (PC-iMCD) have many overlapping features. Their differential diagnosis is challenging and crucial for clinical management due to their different prognoses and treatments. However, reports that compare these conditions are scarce, especially for patients with lung involvement.

Clinical Manifestations.

Background: Previous studies on APOE have mostly focused on APOE ε4, while less attention has been paid to APOE ε2. The aim of this study was to clarify the effect of APOE ε2 on different cognitive domains in dementia patients.

Method: All subjects were from the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) dementia cohort and included clinical diagnoses of AD, VaD, FTLD, and LBD.

Background: The "Recruitment and Retention for Alzheimer's Disease Diversity Genetic Cohorts in the ADSP (READD-ADSP)" is developing a resource to expand ancestral diversity in Alzheimer disease (AD) studies to dissect the genetic architecture of AD across different populations. In addition to US sites, READD-ADSP includes four US sites and nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa through the Africa Dementia Consortium (AfDC). The overall goal of READD-ADSP is to identify genetically driven targets in diverse groups including African Americans and Hispanic/Latinos in US, and Africans.

Health literacy among the rural Bangladeshi population on first aid measures and prevention of snakebite.

Background: Bangladesh has a high rate of snakebite. In rural areas, there is a significant mortality and morbidity rate due to lack of awareness and inappropriate first aid practices. This study aims to determine the knowledge and practices of the rural population in two subdistricts of Bangladesh regarding snakebite prevention and first aid measures.

Gut microbiota mediated T cells regulation and autoimmune diseases.

Gut microbiota regulates the immune system, the development and progression of autoimmune diseases (AIDs) and overall health. Recent studies have played a crucial part in understanding the specific role of different gut bacterial strains and their metabolites in different AIDs. Microbial signatures in AIDs are revealed by advanced sequencing and metabolomics studies.

Case report: Anesthesia management for surgical treatment of glucagonoma with symptom of characterized necrolytic migratory erythema.

Background: The anesthetic management of patients with glucagonoma is complicated by a number of factors including glucose fluctuation, characterized necrolytic migratory erythema in oral and pharyngeal, which may lead to an unexpected difficult airway.

Case Presentation: Herein we describe the anesthetic considerations and management of a 47-year-old adult with glucagonoma, who presented for a laparoscopic splenectomy and distal pancreatectomy procedure.

Conclusion: This report details fiberoptic intubation in an adult with glucagonoma and necrolytic migratory erythema.

SiCLAT: simultaneous imaging of chromatin loops and active transcription in living cells.

We present SiCLAT, which introduces a dCas9-dCas13d cassette into the mouse genome. This model enables the stable expression of both dCas9 and dCas13 proteins in diverse cell populations, facilitating concurrent labeling of DNA and RNA across various cell types. Using SiCLAT, we accurately labeled chromatin loop anchor interactions and associated gene transcription during myogenic differentiation.

A nomogram predicting the risk of venous thromboembolism in patients following urologic surgeries.

There are inconsistent results pertaining to risk factors for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients following urologic surgeries. We attempted to establish a visualization model to shed further light upon this topic. Consequently, a total of 436 patients who were tested for VTE following urologic surgeries were retrospectively enrolled.

Diagnostic value of dual-layer spectral detector CT parameters for differentiating high- from low-grade bladder cancer.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of spectral parameters of dual-layer spectral detector computed tomography (DLCT) in distinguishing between low- and high-grade bladder cancer (BCa).

Methods: This single-center retrospective study included pathologically confirmed BCa patients who underwent preoperative contrast-enhanced DLCT. Patients were divided into low- and high-grade groups based on pathology.

Plasma fibronectin is a prognostic biomarker of disability in Parkinson's disease: a prospective, multicenter cohort study.

In a prospective longitudinal study with 218 Parkinson's disease (PD) patients in the discovery cohort and 84 in the validation cohort, we aimed to identify novel blood biomarkers predicting disability milestones in PD. Through Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator-Cox (Lasso-Cox) regression, developed nomogram predictive model and Linear mixed-effects models, we identified low level of plasma fibronectin (pFN) as one of the best-performing risk markers in predicting disability milestones. A low level of pFN was associated with a short milestone-free survival period in PD.

One-year mortality and re-admission rate by disease etiology in National Heart Failure Registry of India.

Survival outcomes of patients with heart failure (HF) based on their disease etiology are not well described. Here, we provide one-year mortality outcomes of 10850 patients with HF (mean age = 59.9 years, 31% women) in India.
