Although considerable progress has been made in drugs and materials for treating it, it's still an urgent clinical problem as the materials and drugs have potential therapeutic drawbacks, such as low delivery efficiency and poor tissue permeability. To promote diabetic wound healing, a composite of thonningianin A (TA)-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (CNPS) encapsulated by a Pluronic F-127 (PF-127) hydrogel (TA-CNPS-PF) was developed in this study.

Methods: The authors used a comprehensive power spectral entropy-based method to assess delta wave activity during sleep based on overnight polysomnograms in 4,058 participants in the SHHS (Sleep Heart Health Study) and 2,193 participants in the MrOS (Osteoporotic Fractures in Men Study) Sleep study.

Nesprins comprise a family of multi-isomeric scaffolding proteins, forming the linker of nucleoskeleton-and-cytoskeleton complex with lamin A/C, emerin and SUN1/2 at the nuclear envelope. Mutations in nesprin-1/-2 are associated with Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD) with conduction defects and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). We have previously observed sarcomeric staining of nesprin-1/-2 in cardiac and skeletal muscle, but nesprin function in this compartment remains unknown.

Epidemiological studies in recent years have identified an association between exposure to air pollutants and acute myocardial infarction (AMI); however, the association between short-term ozone (O) exposure and AMI hospitalization remains unclear, particularly in developing countries. Therefore, this study collected information on 24,489 AMI patients, including daily air pollutant and meteorological data in Henan, China, between 2016 and 2021. A distributed lagged nonlinear model combined with a Poisson regression model was used to estimate the nonlinear lagged effect of O on AMI hospitalizations.

Nesprins (nuclear envelope spectrin repeat proteins) are multi-isomeric scaffolding proteins. Giant nesprin-1 and -2 localise to the outer nuclear membrane, interact with SUN (Sad1p/UNC-84) domain-containing proteins at the inner nuclear membrane to form the LInker of Nucleoskeleton and Cytoskeleton (LINC) complex, which, in association with lamin A/C and emerin, mechanically couples the nucleus to the cytoskeleton. Despite ubiquitous expression of nesprin giant isoforms, pathogenic mutations in nesprin-1 and -2 are associated with tissue-specific disorders, particularly related to striated muscle such as dilated cardiomyopathy and Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy.

The transdifferentiation from cardiac fibroblasts to myofibroblasts is an important event in the initiation of cardiac fibrosis. However, the underlying mechanism is not fully understood. Circ-sh3rf3 (circular RNA SH3 domain containing Ring Finger 3) is a novel circular RNA which was induced in hypertrophied ventricles by isoproterenol hydrochloride, and our work has established that it is a potential regulator in cardiac hypertrophy, but whether circ-sh3rf3 plays a role in cardiac fibrosis remains unclear, especially in the conversion of cardiac fibroblasts into myofibroblasts.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide; therefore, seeking effective therapeutics to reduce the global burden of CVD has become increasingly urgent. Celastrol, a bioactive compound isolated from the roots of the plant (TW), has been attracting increasing research attention in recent years, as it exerts cardiovascular treatment benefits targeting both CVD and their associated risk factors. Substantial evidence has revealed a protective role of celastrol against a broad spectrum of CVD including obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular injury, calcific aortic valve disease and heart failure through complicated and interlinked mechanisms such as direct protection against cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and death, and indirect action on oxidation and inflammation.

Although the antimicrobial potential of nitric oxide (NO) is widely published, it is little used clinically. Objective: To investigate the objective sleep characteristics and the independent risk factors for sleep apnea in heart failure (HF) patients with different left ventricular ejection fractions (LVEF).
Methods: A total of 107 patients with chronic HF hospitalized in the Department of Cardiology of our hospital from April, 2019 to October, 2020 were included in this study. According to the LVEF measured by echocardiography, the patients were divided into reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) group (=35), mid-range ejection fraction (HFmrEF) group (=21), and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) group (=51).

Studies in genetically modified mice suggest roles in brain blood flow regulation while dysfunctional nNOS signalling is implicated in cerebrovascular ischaemia and migraine.
