Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD) that results from the dysregulation of multiple innate and adaptive immune pathways. Late-onset SLE (Lo-SLE) is the term used when the disease is first diagnosed after 50-65 years, though the standard age cut-off remains undefined. Defining "late-onset" as lupus with onset after 50 years is more biologically plausible as this roughly corresponds to the age of menopause.

Background: First responders are at high risk for adverse mental health outcomes following trauma exposure during disaster response. This mixed methods study aimed to quantify psychological impacts and explore personal experiences among first responders after the Bahanaga train accident that killed 294 passengers in the month of June 2023.
Methods: For qualitative data, in-depth interviews (IDIs) were conducted, and quantitative data was collected using the PTSD checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), generalized anxiety disorder scale (GAD-7), and patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) for symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety.

Introduction: Utilizing 38% silver diamine fluoride (SDF) has been demonstrated in clinical trials to prevent and halt early childhood caries (ECC). Based on a research evaluation, it has been found that 38% SDF can effectively prevent new tooth decay and stop existing tooth decay in children's primary teeth.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the survival of teeth treated with repeated applications of 38% SDF in children with ECC and to compare the outcomes between single and multiple applications.

Background: Anatomic single-bundle ACL reconstruction (ACLR) produces good results when the graft and tunnel are positioned in the anatomic footprint on the femoral and tibial insertion sites in a more oblique orientation. The of the knee and its biomechanical role in controlling rotational laxity, internal rotation, and pivot shift has led to adding adjunctive procedures like extra-articular augmentation and lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) to decrease rotational laxity. We prospectively analyzed young adults with rotational instability and generalized laxity undergoing an arthroscopic single bundle ACLR with an additional LET procedure.

Climate change and pollution are a major existential threat. Healthcare contributes a noteworthy 4-6% to the total carbon footprint and 5-7% of the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Environmental pollution and modern lifestyles are also contributing to the increased prevalence of autoimmune and lifestyle-related rheumatic disease.

Background: Neurological disorders are a major global health concern, especially in BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), where demographic and socio-economic changes have amplified their impact. This study evaluates trends in incidence, prevalence, mortality, and Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) associated with neurological diseases in these countries from 1990 to 2021, focusing on sex disparities and key risk factors.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 database.

8-Hydroxyquinoline and imidazole, two important N-heteroaromatic systems, have a strong affinity towards various anions their acidic OH or NH protons. Three receptor ligands, 5-(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)quinolin-8-ol (1), 5-(benzo[]thiazol-2-yl)quinolin-8-ol (2), and 4-(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)benzene-1,3-diol (3), were synthesized, and their fluoride (F) ion binding properties were investigated. These ligands could selectively bind F ions, and their respective F complexes, namely, 1-TBAF, 2-TBAF, and 3-TBAF (TBAF = tetrabutylammonium fluoride), were characterized using single crystal X-ray analysis, NMR, UV-vis, Hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis and computational studies.

The coronavirus that causes serious acute respiratory syndrome. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is still a major problem in public health and biomedicine. Even if there is no cure for it, the infection is still progressing naturally, and the only time that optimal treatment choices, such as doxycycline, work is at the beginning of the infection.

The extensive use of plastics in modern dentistry, including oral care products and dental materials, has raised significant concerns due to the increasing evidence of potential harm to human health and the environment caused by the unintentional release of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs). Particles from sources like toothpaste, toothbrushes, orthodontic implants, and denture materials are generated through mechanical friction, pH changes, and thermal fluctuations. These processes cause surface stress, weaken material integrity, and induce wear, posing health risks such as exposure to harmful monomers and additives, while contributing to environmental contamination.

This study presents a mild, one-pot synthetic approach for the synthesis of multicolor, water soluble, photo luminescent CdS and CdSe quantum dots (QDs). To achieve this goal, cyclic peptides containing cysteine residues are rationally designed and synthesized. Among the peptides tested, those containing two cysteine residues exhibit superior stabilizing properties, ensuring the solubility and long-term stability of the QDs in aqueous solutions for several months.

Breast cancer (BC) recurrence is a major concern for both patients and healthcare providers. Accurately predicting the risk of BC recurrence can help guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes for a disease-free survival. There are several approaches and models that have been developed to predict BC recurrence risk.

The maxillary anteriors play the most prominent role in an individual's aesthetics, speech, and majorly psychology. The impaction of maxillary anterior teeth can be a challenging orthodontic problem that can be managed by interceptive orthodontics in early mixed dentition. In this particular case report, interceptive orthodontics alone may not bring desirable results because two problems need to be dealt simultaneously, namely, intraosseous crowding and midline shift due to impaction on the affected quadrant.

The burgeoning issue of microplastic pollution in marine ecosystems has emerged as a significant concern, presently multifaceted difficulty to the sustainability and prosperity of the blue economy. This review examines the intricate link between microplastics (MPs) and the blue economy (BE), exploring how microplastics infiltrate marine environments, their persistence, and their impacts on economic activities reliant on healthy oceans in a global scenario. Diminished seafood quality and quantity, degraded coastal aesthetics affecting tourism revenues, and increased operational costs due to fouling and contamination are among the economic repercussions identified.

Since the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) published guidelines on non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis/idiopathic portal hypertension in 2007, there has been a surge in new information, especially with the introduction of the term porto-sinusoidal vascular disorder (PSVD). Non-cirrhotic intra-hepatic causes of portal hypertension include disorders with a clearly identifiable etiology, such as schistosomiasis, as well as disorders with an unclear etiology such as non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis (NCPF), also termed idiopathic portal hypertension (IPH). This entity is being increasingly recognized as being associated with systemic disease and drug therapy, especially cancer therapy.

Variants of concern (VOCs) of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) exhibit high infectivity due to mutations, particularly in the spike protein, that facilitate enhanced binding of virus to human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (hACE2). The D614G mutation, situated in S1-domain, promotes the open conformation of spike protein, augmenting its interaction with hACE2. Activated water neutralizes pathogens by damaging biological molecules; however, its effect on mutated SARS-CoV-2 or VOCs requires further exploration.

The aim of the study was to review and determine whether guided endodontic treatment or conventional technique is a better treatment alternative for patients with calcific metamorphosis. The review was done according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement (PRISMA) guidelines. Databases were searched from 2000 to December 2022 for studies reporting the treatment of calcific metamorphosis through guided endodontic treatment or conventional technique.
