Silver oxide nanoparticles have various biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. However, conventional nanofabrication of AgO is associated with the use of toxic chemicals and organic solvents. To circumvent this hurdle, herein silver oxide quantum dots (AgO-QDs) were synthesized quickly (3 min) via the use of ultrasonic irradiation and plant-extract.

Antioxidants such as selenium (Se) play vital roles in reproduction success and larval development in fish. A three-month feeding experiment was conducted to examine the impact of enriching a plant-based diet (60% of fishmeal was substituted with a blend of plant ingredients) with nano-selenium (nano-Se) on antioxidant metabolism in female brooders and the progeny of Arabian yellowfin sea bream (Acanthopagrus arabicus). At this point, the plant-based diet was supplemented with graded levels of nano-Se at 0, 0.

This study evaluated the concentration and health risks of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Abadan City under 4 different climatic conditions: normal days, dusty days, dust with northwesterly winds, and dust with southeasterly winds. It also determined the sources of aromatics and discussed the relationship between meteorological parameters and PAH concentrations. The spatiotemporal distribution of dust in the area was determined using the HYSPLIT (hybrid single-particle Lagrangian integrated trajectory) back trajectory model, moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) images.

Thirty two-year observations (1990-2022) of water level from a total of 14 high-quality acoustic tide stations around the coast of Australia deployed for the Australian Baseline Sea Level Monitoring Project were analyzed. The following three approaches were used: Fourier Transform (FT), Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD), and Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA). The water level anomaly was observed to have predominant annual variations with a period of about 12 months based on the Fourier transform.

Synthetic hydrogels have been replaced by natural hydrogels due to their properties such as being long-lasting, more capacity for water absorption, high strength, and resistance. Recently, hydrogels have been defined as two- or multi-component systems consisting of three-dimensional networks of polymer chains that fill the space between macromolecules. Their water absorption efficiency depends on both polymeric nature and the capacity of the polymer network connections.

The biological agents are carried from deserts and dried lands to long distances by high dust volumes. Their adverse effects can be reduced by specifying and controlling dust sources and their related biological agents. Thus, the current work examined the relationship between the bacteria in air and soil samples by taking samples from the soil surface of two dust sources, as well as from air samples during spring from Khorramshahr and Abadan cities.

The physicochemical properties of Pip@MGO nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), Thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), Vibrating Sample Magnetometery (VSM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis. In this method, the batch removal process were designed by response surface methodology (RSM) based on a central composite design (CCD) model.

In the present study, a simple and low cost methodology based on ultrasonic assisted-dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (UA-DLLME) followed by smartphone-based colorimetric measurement was introduced for the separation and determination of Triclosan (TCS) from contaminated waters. This method is based on the formation of an azo compound from the alkaline reaction of TCS with a diazonium ion, resulting from the reaction of sodium nitrite and p-sulfanilic acid in an acidic medium. The orange-brown color product was extracted into a low volume of organic phase by UA-DLLME method and RGB values were recorded with free Android app Color Grab.

The occurrence of microplastics (MPs) was investigated in the Arvand River (Iran). The Arvand River (200 Km) is a major water body that flows through land with diverse use and it meets the Persian Gulf. This study constitutes the first assessment of MP pollution (prevalence and physico-chemical characteristics) in the Arvand river, both in the sediment and in the water.

There is a global research interest in metal nanoparticles (MNPs) due to their diverse applications, rapidly increasing use, and increased presence in the aquatic environment. Currently, most MNPs in the environment are at levels unlikely to cause overt toxicity. Sub-lethal effects that MNPs may induce, notable immunotoxicity, could however have significant health implications.

This research aimed to estimate the effects of chitosan (CH) coating in combination with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPS) and essential oil (ZEO) on the bacterial and biochemical properties of the Asian sea bass () fillets during refrigeration storage (4 ± 1 °C). The fillets were randomly divided into five treatments (CH, CH-ZnONPS, CH-ZEO, CH-ZnONPs-ZEO, and control). Then, the treated fillets were kept at 4 °C and quality analysis was performed on days 0, 4, 8, 12, and 16.

The present study tried to measure the formation of melanomacrophage centers (MMCs) in various organs of male and female goldfish exposed to nonylphenol (NP) and aimed to assess its relationship with the main sexual hormones, estrogen receptor expression, and the pigment content of the MMCs. Immature goldfish were exposed to 10 and 10 M NP for 25 days. After obtaining blood for measuring testosterone and estrogen (E2) levels, tissue samples were collected from various organs for histological studies, quantifying pigments using ImageJ software and chemical analysis, and measuring ERα gene expression.

This research was conducted to determine the concentration of heavy metals (Cu, Pb, and Ni) in the sediments as well as the gill and muscle tissue of Siganus javus and two species of algae (Padina australis and Sargassum vulgare) collected from the Persian Gulf coasts of Bushehr province, which were studied using standard laboratory methods. The general form and trend of metal uptake at different stations in the gill and muscle tissue was Cu > Ni > Pb. The results of the study of metal uptake in both algae showed that the uptake of all three metals was higher in Padina species (Pb ˂ Cu ˂ Ni).

The respiratory trees present only in the class Holothuroidea and the rest of the echinoderms lack it. Only some holothurian species have the ability to regenerate their respiratory trees after autotomy. Therefore, respiratory trees could be considered as a suitable model to assess the regeneration mechanisms in animals.

This contribution presents the biosynthesis, physiochemical properties, toxicity and photocatalytic activity of biogenic CeO NPs using, for the first time, marine oyster extract as an effective and rich source of bioreducing and capping/stabilizing agents in a one-pot recipe. CeO NPs formation was initially confirmed through the color change from light green to pale yellow and subsequently, their corresponding absorption peak was spectroscopically determined at 310 nm with an optical band-gap of 4.67 eV using the DR-UV technique.

Nowadays, pollution of aquatic ecosystems with heavy metals is one of the most important environmental challenges due to toxicity, stability, and bioaccumulation in the environment. Heavy metals accumulate in aquatics and plant tissues and can eventually threaten human health by transmission into the food chain. For this reason, in the present study, the effect of copper sulfate (CuSO) and its transmission in the food chain of Artemia franciscana, Danio rerio (Zebra), and Astronotus ocellatus (Oscar) were investigated.
