The extraction and preconcentration of total aflatoxins (including aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, and G2) using magnetic nanoparticles based solid phase extraction (MSPE) followed by surfactant-enhanced spectrofluorimetric detection was proposed. Ethylene glycol bis-mercaptoacetate modified silica coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles as an efficient antibody-free adsorbent was successfully applied to extract aflatoxins from wheat samples. High surface area and strong magnetization properties of magnetic nanoparticles were utilized to achieve high enrichment factor (97), and satisfactory recoveries (92-105%) using only 100mg of the adsorbent.

Some amino acid derivatives, such as R-glycine, have been synthesized together with their full spectroscopic characterization. The sodium salts of these bidentate amino acid ligands have been interacted with [M(bpy)(H2O)2](NO3)2 giving the corresponding some new complexes with formula [M(bpy)(R-gly)]NO3 (where M is Pt(II) or Pd(II), bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine and R-gly is butyl-, hexyl- and octyl-glycine). Due to less solubility of octyl derivatives, the biological activities of butyl and hexyl derivatives have been tested against chronic myelogenous leukemia cell line, K562.

An efficient, simple and fast low-density solvent based dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (LDS-DLLME) followed by vortex-assisted dispersive solid phase extraction (VA-D-SPE) has been developed as a new approach for extraction and preconcentration of aflatoxin M1 in milk samples prior to its micelle enhanced spectrofluorimetic determination. In this LDS-DLLME coupled VA-D-SPE method, milk samples were first treated with methanol/water (80:20, v/v) after removing the fat layer. This solvent was directly used as the dispersing solvent in DLLME along with using 1-heptanol (as a low-density solvent with respect to water) as the extracting solvent.

We are introducing mercapto-mesoporous carbon modified carbon paste electrode (mercapto-MP-C-CPE) as a new sensor for trace determination of omeprazole (OM) in biological samples. The synthesized modifier was characterized by thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), elemental analysis (CHN) and N2 adsorption surface area measurement (BET). A novel pH-responsive polymer, poly(methacrylic acid-co-acrylic acid)-co-polyvinyl-pyrrolidone (polymeric nano-carrier) was synthesized and used for encapsulation of 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles to prepare a new magnetic nano-carrier. A novel, facile and inexpensive solid phase extraction (SPE) method using ethylene glycol bis-mercaptoacetate modified 3-(trimethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol grafted Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles coupled with spectrofluorimetric detection was proposed for determination of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in liquid milk samples. The method uses the advantage fluorescence enhancement by β-cyclodexterin complexation of AFM1 in 12% (v/v) acetonitrile-water and the remarkable properties of Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles namely high surface area and strong magnetization were utilized to achieve high enrichment factor (57) and satisfactory extraction recoveries (91-102%) using only 100 mg of magnetic adsorbent. Furthermore, fast separation time of about 15 min avoids many time-consuming column-passing procedures of conventional SPE.

In the present work, microfunnel-supported liquid-phase microextraction method (MF-LPME) based on applying low density organic solvent was developed for the determination of antifoulings (Irgarol 1051, diuron and 3,4-dichloroaniline) from seawater samples. In this method, home-designed MF device was used for facile loading and retrieving of organic solvent during the extraction procedure. The extraction was carried out with introduction of 400 μL of toluene via syringe into the MF device placed on the surface of sample solution (300 mL) containing analytes.

Extraction, pre-concentration, and determination of trace amounts of silver, cadmium, copper, mercury, and lead from some food samples were investigated by magnetic solid phase extraction using Fe3O4 nanoparticles coated with 3-(trimethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol and modified with ethylene glycol bis-mercaptoacetate as a new adsorbent. SEM, X-ray diffraction, and FT-IR were used to characterise the adsorbent. Metal ions were measured using ICP-OES, except for mercury, which was determined by CV-AAS method.

A new, simple, fast, and environmental friendly sample preconcentration technique based on the modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles has been developed for extraction, and determination of ochratoxin A (OTA). Magnetic nanoparticles were coated with 3-(trimethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol and modified by ethylene glycol bis-mercaptoacetate. Transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry were used to characterize the adsorbents and the main parameters affecting the extraction and desorption efficiencies, such as pH of sample solution, sample volume, desorption conditions, extraction and desorption times, salt addition, and co-existing interferences have been investigated and established.

In this work, a self-assembled diazonium modified gold electrode (D-MGE) was used for the fabrication of an electrochemical DNA biosensor. For preparation of D-MGE, initially 2-amino-5-mercapto-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole (AMT) self-assembled on gold electrode and a simple diazonation reaction was used to prepare D-MGE. Then, non-labeled single strand DNA (NL-ssDNA) directly was immobilized on D-MGE through electrostatic interaction.

Human serum albumin (HSA), the most abundant protein in plasma, plays an important role in the transportation of metabolic and exogenous compounds, particularly drugs. However, it takes a carrier to bring the metabolite or compound to the plasma for subsequent transportation in blood using HSA.
