Most conventional wound dressings do not meet the clinical requisites owing to their limited multifunctionality. Herein, a bilayer wound dressing containing both hydrogel and fibrous structures with multifunctional features was developed for effective skin rehabilitation. Sodium alginate (SA)/gelatin (Gel) hydrogel comprising Matricaria chamomilla L extract and silver sulfadiazine (AgSD) drug as antibacterial agents was cross-linked using genipin and CaCl.

Introduction: It is well known that peripheral artery disease (PAD) and coronary artery disease (CAD) coexist and therefore, patients diagnosed with PAD have an increased chance of developing concomitant CAD. CAD-related complications could be a leading cause of postoperative mortality in individuals with PAD undergoing vascular surgery. We present a case series of 48 patients who underwent coronary angiography before vascular surgery and an updated review of previous reports to determine the prevalence of concomitant CAD in a convenience sample of Iranian patients.

Erythrocytes have gained popularity as a natural option for in vivo drug delivery due to their advantages, which include lengthy circulation times, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. Consequently, the drug's pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in red blood cells can be considerably up the dosage. Here, we provide an overview of the erythrocyte membrane's structure and discuss the characteristics of erythrocytes that influence their suitability as carrier systems.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant contributor to global mortality and disability, and there is still no specific drug available to treat cognitive deficits in survivors. Vanillic acid (VA), a bioactive phenolic compound, has shown protective effects in various models of neurodegeneration; however, its impact on TBI outcomes remains elusive. Therefore, this study aimed to elucidate the possible role of VA in ameliorating TBI-induced cognitive decline and to reveal the mechanisms involved.

Introduction: This study measures the COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness (CVE) against hospital admission and severe COVID-19.
Methods: This study is a test-negative case-control design using data from eight provinces in April, 2021 until March, 2022. The individuals were classified as cases and controls based on the results of the RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 and matched based on the timing of the test being conducted as well as the timing of hospital admission.

The l -arginine ( l -Arg)/nitric oxide/cyclic GMP/potassium channel (K ATP ) pathway and opioid receptors are known to play critical roles in pain perception and the antinociceptive effects of various compounds. While there is evidence suggesting that the analgesic effects of rutin may involve nitric oxide modulation, the direct link between rutin and the l -Arg/nitric oxide/cyclic GMP/K ATP pathway in the context of pain modulation requires further investigation. The antinociceptive effect of rutin was studied in male NMRI mice using the formalin test.

Corneal abrasion is a frequent complication in critically ill, intubated patients, potentially leading to visual impairment. This study compares the efficacy of three ocular care methods in preventing corneal abrasion among this vulnerable population. We conducted a randomized controlled trial involving 156 intubated adult patients admitted to the ICU.

Background: Due to the complex pathophysiological mechanisms involved in cancer progression and metastasis, current therapeutic approaches lack efficacy and have significant adverse effects. Therefore, it is essential to establish novel strategies for combating cancer. Phytochemicals, which possess multiple biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, immunomodulatory, antiproliferative, anti-angiogenesis, and antimetastatic properties, can regulate cancer progression and interfere in various stages of cancer development by suppressing various signaling pathways.

Purpose: The potential dietary inflammatory index (DII) and the phenomenon of obesity have been linked in recent studies, but it is unclear whether this connection is dependent on metabolic status. Therefore, it was thought that this research would be useful in establishing the relationship between obesity phenotypes and DII.
Methods: The 5956 people who took part in the Ravansar non-communicable diseases (RaNCD) cohort research (MHNO) were put into four groups: metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO), metabolically healthy obesity (MHO), metabolically unhealthy non-obesity (MUNO), and metabolically healthy non-obesity.

Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a long-term disorder characterized by frequent blockages in the upper respiratory tract during sleep, often leading to abrupt awakenings, with or without a decrease in oxygen levels. The systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the effect of continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP) on blood interleukin (IL) levels of IL-6, IL-10, IL-18, IL-1β, IL-4, and IL-17 in OSA adults.
Materials And Methods: The published databases from PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched from 2003 to 2024, without any restrictions.

Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic that dose-dependently causes renal complications such as decreased kidney function and acute kidney injury. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is responsible for calcium homeostasis and protein folding and plays a major part in cisplatin's nephrotoxicity. The current article reviews how chemical and natural compounds modulate cisplatin-induced apoptosis, autophagy, and inflammation by inhibiting ER stress signaling pathways.
