Key Clinical Message: Pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis should be evaluated even in adults with no previous medical history and no history of cigarette smoking who have spontaneous pneumothorax and evidence of multiple lung cystic lesions, and other organs should also be checked for multi organ Langerhans cell histiocytosis involvement.
Abstract: A 30-year-old man presented with sudden chest pain and evidence of multiple cystic lesions in both upper and lower lobes of lungs, as well as left-sided pneumothorax in high resolution computed tomography. In lung samples, hematoxylin and eosin- stained sections and IHC for CD1a, S100, and BRAF V600 were positive.

As an antioxidant, coenzyme Q 10 (CoQ10) has been proposed as a possible treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In the present meta-analysis, we aimed to determine the effects of CoQ10 supplementation on lipid profiles and liver enzymes of NAFLD patients. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane Library on 21 April 2022 to retrieve randomized controlled trials on NAFLD patients in which CoQ10 was utilized as a treatment.

Key Clinical Message: In this case of disseminated cutaneous leishmaniasis in our immunosuppressive patient who was a refractor to treatment with intra-lesion Glucantime® and systemic L-AmB, considering the good clinical response to oral miltefosine, this drug might be the best treatment option.
Abstract: Diagnosis and treatment of leishmaniasis are challenging in immunosuppressed patients. Here, we report a 46-year-old male renal transplant recipient with disseminated cutaneous leishmaniasis presenting with multiple lesions on the face and upper extremities 15 years after transplant with a challenging course of treatment with meglumine antimoniate, liposomal amphotericin B, and miltefosine.

Background And Aim: Nursing reports are necessary for clinical communication and provide an accurate reflection of nursing assessments, care provided, changes in clinical status, and patient-related information to support the multidisciplinary team to provide individualized care. Nurses always face challenges in recording and documenting nursing reports. Speech recognition systems (SRS), as one of the documentation technologies, can play a potential role in recording medical reports.

Organophosphorus (OPs) compounds can endanger human health and the environment by inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase enzyme. But these compounds have been widely used as pesticides due to their effectiveness against all kinds of pests. In this study, a Needle Trap Device (NTD) packed with mesoporous organo-layered double hydroxide (organo-LDH) material and coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was employed for the sampling and analysis of OPs compounds (diazinon, ethion, malathion, parathion, and fenitrothion).

Background and aim: Iranian hospitals are provided with hospital information systems (HISs) from different vendors, which make it hardly possible to summarize laboratory data in an consistent manner. Therefore, there is a need to design a minimum data set of laboratory data that will define standard criteria and reduce potential medical errors. The purpose of this study was to design a minimum data set (MDS) of laboratory data for an electronic summary sheet to be used in the pediatric ward of Iranian hospitals.

Carbon dots (CDs) with unique physicochemical features such as exceptional biocompatibility, low cost, eco-friendliness, abundant functional groups (, amino, hydroxyl, and carboxyl), high stability, and electron mobility have been broadly investigated in nano- and biomedicine. In addition, the controlled architecture, tunable fluorescence emission/excitation, light-emitting potential, high photostability, high water solubility, low cytotoxicity, and biodegradability make these carbon-based nanomaterials suitable for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TE-RM) purposes. However, there are still limited pre- and clinical assessments, because of some important challenges such as the scaffold inconsistency and non-biodegradability in addition to the lack of non-invasive methods to monitor tissue regeneration after implantation.

Key Clinical Message: In children, intussusception may have a pathologic cause, such as Burkitt's lymphoma. As a result, we should be cautious of Burkitt's lymphoma in children with intussusception. Finally, the importance of histological assessment of resected tissues in pediatric operations, particularly those with intussusception, should be emphasized.

Hepatitis A virus (HAV) has some life-threatening extrahepatic complications, such as acute acalculous cholecystitis (AAC). We present HAV-induced AAC in a young female, based on clinical, laboratory, and imaging findings, and conduct a literature review. The patient became irritable, which progressed to lethargy, as well as a significant decline in liver function, indicating acute liver failure (ALF).

Background: Biomonitoring is a well-established method for assessing people's exposure to contaminants in the environment. Many non-communicable diseases can be prevented or aggravated by physiologically monitoring heavy metals in biological matrices such as urine, evaluating their association with non-communicable diseases, and attempting to limit exposure to them. The focus of this research was to determine the association between potentially toxic elements (PTE) such as arsenic (As), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr), and zinc (Zn) urine concentrations and anthropometric indices and demographic data in children and adolescents aged 6-18 years in Kerman, Iran.
