Purpose: The impact of pediatric traumatic brain injury (pTBI) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and adolescents remains understudied. Short scales have some advantages in terms of economy and administration over longer scales, especially in younger children. The aim of the present study is to psychometrically evaluate the six-item German version of the QOLIBRI-OS-KID/ADO scale for children and adolescents.

Characterization of the Epileptogenic Phenotype and Response to Antiseizure Medications in Lissencephaly Patients.

Background: Patients with lissencephaly typically present with severe psychomotor retardation and drug-resistant seizures. The aim of this study was to characterize the epileptic phenotype in a genotypically and radiologically well-defined patient cohort and to evaluate the response to antiseizure medication (ASM). Progressive Encephalomyelitis With Rigidity and Myoclonus With Glycine Receptor and GAD65 Antibodies: Case Report and Potential Mechanisms.

Objectives: Progressive encephalomyelitis with rigidity and myoclonus (PERM) is a severe form of stiff-person spectrum disorder that can be associated with antibodies against surface antigens (glycine receptor (GlyR), dipeptidyl-peptidase-like-protein-6) and intracellular antigens (glutamate decarboxylase (GAD65), amphiphysin).

Methods: We report clinico-pathologic findings of a PERM patient with coexisting GlyR and GAD65 antibodies.

Results: A 75-year-old man presented with myoclonus and pain of the legs, subsequently developed severe motor symptoms, hyperekplexia, a pronounced startle reflex, hallucinations, dysautonomia, and died 10 months after onset despite extensive immunotherapy, symptomatic treatment, and continuous intensive care support.

Results from a phase I study of 4--[131I]iodo-phenylalanine ([I]IPA) with external radiation therapy in patients with recurrent glioblastoma (IPAX-1).

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM), the most common malignant brain tumor, is associated with devastating outcomes. IPAX-1 was a multicenter, open-label, single-arm phase I study to evaluate carrier-added 4--[I]iodo-phenylalanine ([I]IPA) plus external radiation therapy (XRT) in recurrent GBM.

Methods: A total of 10 adults with recurrent GBM who had received first-line debulking surgery plus radio-chemotherapy, were randomized to a single-dose regimen (1f; I-IPA 2 GBq before XRT); a fractionated parallel dose regimen (3f-p; 3 I-IPA 670 MBq fractions, in parallel with second-line XRT), or a fractionated sequential dose regimen (3f-s; 3 I-IPA 670 MBq fractions before and after XRT).

Association of Disease-Modifying Treatment With Outcome in Patients With Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis and Isolated MRI Activity.

Background And Objectives: Isolated value of MRI metrics in relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS) as a surrogate marker of response to disease-modifying treatment (DMT) and, thus, as decision criteria for DMT escalation in the absence of clinical signs of disease activity is still a matter of debate. The aim of this study was to investigate whether DMT escalation based on isolated MRI activity affects clinical outcome.

Methods: Combining data from 5 MS centers in Austria and Switzerland, we included patients with RMS aged at least 18 years who (1) had initiated first-line, low-to-moderate-efficacy DMT (interferon β, glatiramer acetate, teriflunomide, or dimethyl fumarate) continued for ≥12 months, (2) were clinically stable (no relapses or disability progression) on DMT for 12 months, (3) had MRI at baseline and after 12 months on DMT, and (4) had available clinical follow-up for ≥2 years after the second MRI.

Glioblastoma in the real-world setting: patterns of care and outcome in the Austrian population.

Purpose: We present results of a retrospective population-based investigation of patterns of care and outcome of glioblastoma patients in Austria.

Patients And Methods: In this nation-wide cooperative project, all Austrian glioblastoma patients newly diagnosed between 2014 and 2018 and registered in the ABTR-SANOnet database were included. Histological typing used criteria of the WHO classification of CNS tumors, 4th edition 2016.

Socioeconomic status as a risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnant women.

Objectives: Due to the association between COVID-19 and adverse pregnancy outcomes, pregnant women are considered to be a vulnerable patient group. Studies have shown that low socioeconomic status (SES) is a risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 infection. COVID-19 and low SES are likely to have a synergistic adverse effect.

Specific Reversal Agents for Direct Oral Anticoagulants in Acute Stroke.

Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) changed stroke prevention and decreased the risk of ischemic and hemorrhagic complications in patients on oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy. The numbers of patients prescribed DOACs has increased rapidly. Availability of specific reversal agents opened new avenues in the prevention and management of DOAC complications.

Introduction: Digital exclusion is a growing challenge when deploying digital patient care pathways and a potential barrier to widespread implementation, especially in the field of smartphone-based self-monitoring of vision. This retrospective case series seeks to examine the characteristics of individuals who adhere to a smartphone home monitoring programme using the Alleye app for retinal disease, with a focus on digital exclusion, social deprivation and clinical outcomes.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 89 patients with retinal pathologies including diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions at Moorfields Eye Hospital participating in an Alleye home monitoring programme between April 2020 and November 2022.

Isolated posterior stabilization in type B and C thoracolumbar fractures associated with ankylosing spine disorders: A single center experience with clinical and radiological outcomes.

Introduction: Fractures in ankylosing spine disorders (ASD) are associated with high complication and mortality rates. During the posterior stabilization of these fractures, reduction is often partial, resulting in the persistence of a significant anterior diastasis. Our objective was to evaluate the safety and efficiency of isolated posterior stabilization in elderly ASD patients, without direct reduction of the anterior diastasis, in terms of clinical and radiological outcomes, complications, and mortality.
