Rapid development of solid-state lighting technology requires new materials with highly efficient and stable luminescence, and especially relies on blue light pumped red phosphors for improved light quality. Herein, we discovered an unprecedented red-emitting MgAlSiO:Eu composite phosphor (λ = 450 nm, λ = 620 nm) via the crystallization of MgO-AlO-SiO aluminosilicate glass. Combined experimental measurement and first-principles calculations verify that Eu dopants insert at the vacant channel of MgAlSiO crystal with six-fold coordination responsible for the peculiar red emission.

Organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides with emissive organic cations are of great interest due to their structural diversity and interesting photophysical properties. Here, we assemble emissive organic cations (EnrofloH) with different metal-chloride anions (PbCl to BiCl to SnCl) to form the new single crystal phases, and thus the photoluminescence properties of the metal halides, including Stokes shift, full width at half-maximum (FWHM), and photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) have been studied accordingly. (EnrofloH)SnCl·HO, as an example, possesses narrow FWHM and high PLQY, which are caused by the strong π-π stacking and inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonds interactions.

We studied the elastic properties of crystalline energetic materials within the framework of density functional theory with van der Waals interactions (DFT-D3(BJ) and rev-vdW-DF2). The full sets of elastic constants were computed. The computed parameters are in good agreement with the experimental data.

The aim of this study was to compare the sputum microbiome of lung cancer (LC) patients with the chromosomal aberration (CA) and micronuclei (MN) frequency in peripheral blood lymphocytes. In the study, the taxonomic composition of the sputum microbiome of 66 men with untreated LC were compared with 62 control subjects with respect to CA and MN frequency and centromere fluorescence in situ hybridisation analysis.

Rn is a specific indoor-type pollutant that represents a primary radiological hazard as a main source of ionizing radiation (IR) for humans. Coal mining creates new sources of gas that are formed over mines. This process can significantly increase the density of radon flux.

This paper studies modern methods of producing and using callus, suspension cells and root cultures of medicinal plants in vitro. A new solution for natural product production is the use of an alternative source of renewable, environmentally friendly raw materials: callus, suspension and root cultures of higher plants in vitro. The possibility of using hairy root cultures as producers of various biologically active substances is studied.

Microalgae are rich in nutrients and biologically active substances such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, pigments, phycobiliproteins, among others. The lipid composition of the microalgae , , and was screened for the first time. The proposed method for purifying the lipid complex isolated from microalgae's biomass involved dissolving the lipid-pigment complex in -hexane for 4 h and stirring at 500 rpm.

Within the framework of the density functional theory (DFT) and the hybrid functional B3LYP by means of the CRYSTAL17 program code, the wavenumbers and intensities of normal oscillations of MgCO, CaCO, ZnCO, CdCO in the structure of calcite; CaMg(CO), CdMg(CO), CaMn(CO), CaZn(CO) in the structure of dolomite; BaMg(CO) in the structure of the norsethite type; and CaCO, SrCO, BaCO, and PbCO in the structure of aragonite were calculated. Infrared absorption and Raman spectra were compared with the known experimental data of synthetic and natural crystals. For lattice and intramolecular modes, linear dependences on the radius and mass of the metal cation are established.

Using a computer simulation, we have studied the random sequential adsorption of stiff linear k-mers onto a square lattice. Each such particle occupies k adjacent lattice sites. During deposition, the two mutually perpendicular orientations of the particles are equiprobable, hence, a macroscopically isotropic monolayer is formed.

A simple semi-empirical approach is proposed to calculate structure and properties of crystals under pressure at fixed temperatures. The computed semi-empirical pressure dependencies for guanidinium perchlorate are in good agreement with available experimental data. results within quasi-harmonic approximation for guanidinium perchlorate are also presented.

Aim: Hyperthermia (HT) has been shown to improve clinical response to radiation therapy (RT) for cancer. Synergism is dramatically enhanced if HT and RT are combined simultaneously, but appropriate technology to apply treatments together does not exist. This study investigates the feasibility of delivering HT with RT to a 5-10mm annular rim of at-risk tissue around a tumor resection cavity using a temporary thermobrachytherapy (TBT) balloon implant.

There is a growing pressure to teach foreign languages as early as possible, and children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) are not immune from these pressures. However, current scholarship lacks crucial insights into how children with DLD respond to L2 learning with minimal (classroom) exposure. In this paper, we report the results of a longitudinal study tracing the development of L1 Russian and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) skills in a group of learners with DLD (age of EFL onset: 7;9-12;1).

Fluorides are thought to be a major cause of osteocarcinogenesis, due to their widespread industrial use, ability to accumulate in bone tissue, and genotoxic and probable carcinogenic properties. In vitro experiments investigating the genotoxic potential of fluorides in bone tissue models can provide valuable indirect information on their involvement in osteocarcinogenesis. Here, we investigated whether sodium fluoride (NaF) has the ability to induce DNA damage and chromosomal abnormalities in human osteosarcoma cells after 48 and 72 h of exposure.

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common diseases of the connective tissue of the elderly. It was found that most epidemiological studies used the Kellgren and Lawrence system for classification of osteoarthritis, which indicates one of the 5 degrees (0-4) of osteoarthritis in various joints according to the radiographic atlas. It has been proven that chondroprotectors are represented by the following active substances: chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate or hydrochloride, hyaluronic acid, glycosaminoglycans, extraction preparations from animal or plant raw materials.

3D printing using fused composite filament fabrication technique (FFF) allows prototyping and manufacturing of durable, lightweight, and customizable parts on demand. Such composites demonstrate significantly improved printability, due to the reduction of shrinkage and warping, alongside the enhancement of strength and rigidity. In this work, we use polypropylene filament reinforced by short glass fibers to demonstrate the effect of fiber orientation on mechanical tensile properties of the 3D printed specimens.
