Purpose: Simple fibroadenomas (SFAs), complex fibroadenomas (CFAs), and cellular fibroadenomas (CeFAs) are variants of fibroadenomas. Additionally, some degenerative, hyperplastic, and metaplastic changes may occur in fibroadenomas, forming complicated fibroadenomas. Distinctive ultrasonography (US) features in variants of fibroadenomas and complicated fibroadenomas have not been reported.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to determine how long patients who developed pneumothorax were followed up on in the emergency department, how many patients required chest tube placement, and what factors influenced the need for a chest tube in patients who underwent computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous transthoracic fine needle aspiration biopsy (PTFNAB).
Materials And Methods: Patients who developed pneumothorax following CT-guided PTFNAB were analyzed retrospectively. In cases with pneumothorax, the relationship between chest tube placement and the size of the lesion, the lesion depth from the pleural surface, the presence of emphysema, and the needle entry angle were investigated.

Objective: Substance P is a peptide from the tachykinin family, which is found in peripheral and central nervous systems, causing vasodilation and increased secretion in the nasal mucosa. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether the experimental model of allergic rhinitis will cause allergic changes in the larynx and to compare the effects of aprepitant, a substance P antagonist, on nasal symptoms in allergic rhinitis, and histopathological changes in the nasal and laryngeal mucosa with antihistamine and leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRA).
Study Design: An experimental animal study.

In this study, we aimed to perform a biosafety risk assessment to determine measures to be taken against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the routine diagnostic parasitology laboratory of a tertiary health care center. The risk assessment template included in the supplement of the interim guidance of "WHO Laboratory Biosafety Guidance Related to COVID-19" was used for the risk assessment. Risk assessments were carried out for the "diagnosis of protozoan diseases in respiratory tract samples" and "diagnosis of intestinal parasitic diseases" processes.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to determine the current state of laboratory's extra-analytical phase performance by calculating preanalytical and postanalytical phase quality indicators (QIs) and sigma values and to compare obtained data according to desired quality specifications and sigma values reported by The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Working Group - Laboratory errors and Patient Safety.
Materials And Methods: Preanalytical and postanalytical phase data were obtained through laboratory information system. Rejected samples in preanalytical phase were grouped according to reasons for rejection and frequencies were calculated both monthly and for 2019.

Background: COVID-19 is a disease associated with diffuse lung injury that has no proven effective treatment yet. It is thought that glucocorticoids may reduce inflammation-mediated lung injury, disease progression, and mortality. We aimed to evaluate our patient's characteristics and treatment outcomes who received corticosteroids for COVID-19 pneumonia.

Introduction: The use of the antifibrinolytic agent tranexamic acid has positive effects on bleeding control, but our knowledge is still limited regarding how fibrinolysis suppression changes the process of bone formation and the quality of bone. Because of the several side effects of systemic tranexamic acid, topical usage has been established in several procedures. This study aimed to investigate the effect of local tranexamic acid on vertebral fusion by using macroscopic, radiologic, and microscopic techniques.

Objective: : The aim of this study was to determine the factors associated with early neurological improvement (ENI) in patients who experienced acute ischemic stroke and were treated with intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (IV rt-PA), and determine the relationship with the outcome at the first control.
Method: : This study included 377 patients who were treated with IV rt-PA in Izmir Dokuz Eylül University Hospital between January 2010 and October 2018. ENI was defined as a 4 or more improvement in the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score in the first hour, the twenty-fourth hour and the seventh day when compared to the pretreatment phase.

Aim: To compare changes in anterior segment topography and axial length (AL) evaluated with Pentacam and IOL Master after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) performed with and without vitreous base shaving.
Methods: This prospective study included patients who underwent PPV or phacoemulsification+PPV (Phaco+PPV) for various indications. Patients who underwent total posterior hyaloid detachment and excessive vitreous base shaving with scleral indentation were referred to as complete PPV (c-PPV).
Setting: Although endobronchial ultrasonography-transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has a well-known place in the staging and diagnosis of lung cancer, the place of EBUS is not clear in the diagnosis of benign diseases, especially in countries with a high prevalence of tuberculosis.
Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the diagnostic efficacy of EBUS-TBNA in benign diseases in a population with a high prevalence of tuberculosis.
Material And Methods: Between October 2011 and March 2018, 1077 EBUS-TBNA was applied.
