This study aimed to develop a reliable and accurate NAPSI scoring tool using deep learning.

Introduction: Research has made progress in organ fabrication using an extracellular matrix, cell sheets, or organoids. Human liver tissue has been constructed using a 3-dimensional (3D) bioprinter and showed evidence that an in vitro generated liver bud was reformed in a rodent liver model. This study describes the stages of development of rat fetal organs and liver structure and reviews recent progress in liver organoid transplantation.

Does social interaction influence the effect of cognitive intervention program? A randomized controlled trial using Go game.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to clarify the influence of social interaction on the effect of a cognitive intervention program using Go.

Methods: A single-blind, randomized controlled trial using a classical board game "Go" was conducted. A total of 72 community-dwelling older adults, without previous experience playing Go, were randomly assigned to three groups: (1) a face-to-face group (FG) in which members attended 12 Go group lessons held once a week; (2) a non-face-to-face group (NFG) in which members individually underwent the same Go lessons as the FG using a tablet computer; or (3) a health education control group (CG).

Docetaxel chemotherapy for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer patients has been thought palliative because the radiological response rate is low and durable response is rare. The patient was a 64-year-old man who was diagnosed with cT3aN0M0 prostate cancer and underwent external beam radiation therapy as the initial treatment. He underwent androgen deprivation therapy and 8 cycles of docetaxel chemotherapy.

Multiple nodular lesions following Pneumocystis pneumonia in a non-HIV immunocompromised patient.

Cytomegalovirus superinfection is associated with a poor prognosis in non-HIV Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) and can cause deterioration of PCP not only simultaneously but also after initiating PCP treatment. Cytomegalovirus pneumonia should be considered in cases with deterioration after initiating PCP treatment; multiple nodular lesions are useful findings for the diagnosis.

Bisebromoamide, a novel cytotoxic peptide, was isolated from the marine cyanobacterium Lyngbya species at our laboratory in 2009. This compound specifically inhibited the phosphorylation of ERK in platelet-derived growth factor-activated normal rat kidney cells.

Post-translational modification of mitochondrial proteins by caloric restriction: possible involvement in caloric restriction-induced cardioprotection.

Increasing evidence demonstrates that members of the sirtuin family, most of which work as NAD(+)-dependent protein deacetylases, mediate the preferable effects of caloric restriction. Since mitochondria play a central role in cardiac reactive oxygen species production, targeted modification of mitochondrial proteins and subsequent improvement in mitochondrial function have the potential for controlling cardiovascular senescence and managing cardiovascular diseases such as ischemia/reperfusion. We showed that caloric restriction primes cardiac mitochondria for ischemic stress by deacetylating specific mitochondrial proteins of the electron transport chain.
