In this paper, we demonstrate the suitability, sensitivity, and precision of low-cost and easy-to-use ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) for concurrent detection of NH and NO in soil and water by technical and non-technical end-users to enable efficient soil and water management exposed to chronic reactive nitrogen loading. We developed a simplified methodology for sample preparation followed by the demonstration of an analytical methodology resulting in improvements of sensitivity and precision of ISEs. Herein, we compared and contrasted ISEs with traditional laboratory-based technique such as Flow Injection Analysis (FIA) and portable colorimetric assay followed by comparisons of linear regression and Bayesian nonlinear calibration approaches applied on both direct potentiometry and standard addition modes of analysis in terms of in-field applications and improvement of sensitivity and precision.

Zeolites and related crystalline molecular sieves are utilised in a wide range of reactions and processes due to their regular microporous structure, strong acidity, shape selectivity and ion-exchange properties. However, their practical applications can be limited by the small size of the channels and cavities of the microporous structures, and therefore, a great deal of effort has been devoted to enhancing the transport of large-sized molecules in the host pores. Several commercially available zeolites, including faujasite (FAU), mordenite (MOR), beta (BEA), ZSM-5 (MFI) and zeolite L (LTL), have been exposed to a variety of acid and base treatments in the presence of a surfactant (cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide, CTAB), which led to the controlled introduction of intracrystalline mesoporosity.

Given the relationship between language acquisition and music processing, musical perception (MP) skills have been proposed as a tool for early diagnosis of speech and language difficulties; therefore, a psychometric instrument is needed to assess music perception in children under 10 years of age, a crucial period in neurodevelopment. We created a set of 80 musical stimuli encompassing seven domains of music perception to inform perception of tonal, atonal, and modal stimuli, in a random sample of 1006 children, 6-13 years of age, equally distributed from first to fifth grades, from 14 schools (38% private schools) in So Paulo State.
