Carbon Monoxide Intoxication Leading to Crush Syndrome and Acute Renal Failure: A Case Report.

Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is a common occurrence, typically resulting from exposure to CO emissions in enclosed spaces. CO is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas. In this case report, we present a 52-year-old male patient who developed crush syndrome and acute kidney injury following carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication.

Evaluation of lamina cribrosa curvature index in different types of glaucoma.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the lamina cribrosa curvature index in different types of glaucoma in comparison with clinical findings and conventional measurement methods.

Material And Method: Patients older than 18 years who were followed up in Glaucoma Unit of Department of Ophthalmology at Fırat University Faculty of Medicine, whose disease had been under control at least for 1 year, who had at least three reliable visual fields, whose refractive error was between - 6 and + 5 diopter and who did not have any disease other than glaucoma that would affect the visual field, were included in the study. Clinical and demographic characteristics, visual field, optical coherence tomography and lamina cribrosa curvature index (LCCI) results were evaluated.

Background/aim: Despite advancements in valve technology and increased clinical experience, complications related to conduction defects after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR) have not improved as rapidly as expected. In this study, we aimed to predict the development of complete atrioventricular (AV) block and bundle branch block during and after the TAVR procedure and to investigate any changes in the cardiac conduction system before and after the procedure using electrophysiological study.

Materials And Methods: A total of 30 patients who were scheduled for TAVR at our cardiovascular council were planned to be included in the study.

Methods: The sample of this prospective randomized controlled experimental study comprised 60 patients (30 intervention and 30 control) who had cataract surgery in the Eye Operating Room of a hospital.

In this study, it was aimed to investigate whether GAS6/sAXL, interleukin (IL)-10, nitric oxide (NO), and BCL-2 levels were associated with inflammation and efferocytosis contributes to the pathogenesis of BD.

Background: The purpose of this study is to determine the significance of markers such as C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, complete blood count parameters, delta neutrophil index, ischemia-modified albumin, presepsin, and oxidative stress indicators, which are associated with inflammation, oxidative stress, and ischemia in the pathology and diagnosis of acute cholecystitis in adults.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with acute cholecystitis in the emergency department and healthy individuals in the control group were included in the study. Routine blood count and biochemistry analyses were performed on the participants.

An unusual form of kidney injury without glomerulonephritis in microscopic polyangiitis: a case report.

Background: Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), a kind of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody associated vasculitis (AAV), predominantly affects small-sized vessels. MPA is a significant cause of the pulmonary-renal syndrome. Pauci-immune necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis is the typical renal histological feature of AAV.

This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 420 women. The data were collected by using the "Descriptive Information Form", "SF-36 Quality of Life Scale (QoLS)" and "State Anxiety Inventory (SAI)". The data were evaluated with Mann-Whitney U-test, Student's t-test and Pearson correlation analysis.

Background: Primary/secondary omental torsion (POT/SOT), isolated segmental omental necrosis (ISON), and primary epiploic appendagitis (PEA) are rare causes of acute abdominal pain that often lead to misdiagnosis. Although the differential diagnosis may vary according to the localization and severity of the pain, and associated symptoms such as nausea-vomiting and fever, depending on the disease and site of involvement, the character of the pain is generally similar and in a continuous form. Depending on pain localization, it can mimic different clinical pictures such as acute appendicitis, acute diverticulitis, ovarian pathologies, urinary tract stones and acute cholecystitis, and patients are often diagnosed after surgical exploration.

Background: Congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMS) are composed of numerous hereditary disorders involving genetic mutations in proteins essential to the integrity of neuromuscular transmission. The symptoms of CMS vary according to the age at onset of symptoms, and the type and severity of muscle weakness. Effective treatment and genetic counseling depend upon the underlying pathogenic molecular mechanism and subtype of CMS.
