Background: The spectrum of human adenovirus (HAdV)-related disease is broad, and the virus acts on many organs and systems in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients. We aimed to evaluate the effect of HAdV-DNA positivity with clinical and laboratory findings 4 months after HSCT.
Methods And Results: We retrospectively investigated HAdV-DNA in 153 HSCT recipients (≤18 years) by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RealStar; Altona Diagnostics).

Background: The purpose of this retrospective study is to investigate the association of qualitative and semiquantitative strain elastography (SE) features with factors such as lesion size, skin-to-lesion distance, and patient's age in fibroadenomas and to discuss false-positive results.
Methods: A total of 120 lesions that were performed SE with histopathologically confirmed fibroadenoma were included in the study. All images were reviewed from the archiving system with a consensus of two radiologists.

Background and Aims Fatty liver increases oxidative stress and may trigger antioxidant mechanisms. We aimed to compare the levels of vitamin D, which has antioxidant properties, as well as total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), and catalase between patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and the control group. Methods We compared vitamin D, TOS, TAS, catalase levels, and other biochemical parameters between pediatric patients with ultrasonographically detected NAFL and an age-matched healthy control group.

Objectives: Pulmonary hypertension (PHT) is one of the essential predictors of mortality in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is thought that PHT is due to vasoconstriction secondary to hypoxia caused by airway obstruction in COPD patients; however, loss of capillary bed with emphysema, inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction may also play a role in the development of PHT. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) has a role as a metabolically active endocrine organ and secretes various proinflammatory cytokines.

Background: Blood loss is the most significant cause of mortality in trauma cases. In injured patients, rapid evaluation and appropriate transfusion is lifesaving. The present study aims to analyze the blood/blood products requirement based on available data and find any associations between the transfusion requirements and injury severity scores (ISS) and anatomical locations of injuries of transfused patients.

Background: Cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures. However, it may result in some unpleasant conditions such as bile duct injury (BDI), bile leak, and vessel injury. Subtotal cholecystectomy (SC), which has been introduced as an alternative method for reducing the complication rates, has been reported to have lower risk of BDI when compared to total cholecystectomy.

Introduction: Antipsychotic drugs are effective in relieving symptoms in the treatment of schizophrenia, but decreased social functioning is resistant to drugs. In this study, the effect of adjunct Psychosocial Skills Training (PSST) on social functioning for schizophrenia patients who receive service in the community mental health center (CMHC) was investigated.
Method: Schizophrenia patients who received routine case management and occupational therapy in CMHC (n=22), patients receiving PSST in addition to CMHC service (n=21) and patients who were followed up in the Psychotic Disorders Outpatient Clinic as control group (n=21), three groups were formed.

Purpose: Elastography was primarily used as an adjunctive method along with ultrasonography in differentiation between benign from malignant lesions. Occasionally, overlaps can occur which are caused by some rare invasive breast cancers. Our aim is to analyze the role of rare breast cancers in false negative strain elastography results and to assess the relation among false negative results and tumor size, lesion distance to skin, and tumor grade.

Background And Aim: In medical practice the classification of breast cancer is most commonly based on the molecular subtypes, in order to predict the disease prognosis, avoid over-treatment, and provide individualized cancer management. Tumor size is a major determiner of treatment planning, acting on the decision-making process, whether to perform breast surgery or administer neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Imaging methods play a key role in determining the tumor size in breast cancers at the time of the diagnosis.

Hepatitis B infection is still among the most important public health problems worldwide, even great improvements have been made in the treatment strategies. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) replicates itself by entering the liver cells and simultaneously with the antigen release, many antagonistic immune responses are induced by the regulatory cells including T cell (Treg), T helper 17 (Th17), T helper 1 (Th1) and T helper 2 (Th2) cells. The main function of Treg cells is to develop an appropriate immune response against infection and to suppress the immune response if it is not required.
