Systemic Sclerosis Quality of Life Questionnaire (SScQoL): translation into Turkish and assessing its psychometric properties.

Background: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the connective tissues and leads to physical, emotional, and social challenges for patients. Evaluating health-related quality of life (HRQoL) with a disease-specific tool may be preferable for improving patient care and treatment outcomes. The aim of this study was to translate the Systemic Sclerosis Quality of Life Questionnaire (SScQoL) into Turkish and to investigate its psychometric properties.

Reparative, Neuroprotective and Anti-neurodegenerative Effects of Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor in Radiation-Induced Brain Injury Model.

Objective: This animal model aimed to compare the rat group that received brain irradiation and did not receive additional treatment (only saline) and the rat group that underwent brain irradiation and received Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) treatment. In addition, the effects of G-CSF on brain functions were examined by magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and histopathologically.

Methods: This study used 24 female Wistar albino rats.

In this study, we aimed to compare the comorbidities causing mortality in critically ill Intensive Care Unit (ICU)-patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

What Is the Place of Intermediate Care Unit in Patients with COVID-19? A Single Center Experience.

Introduction: COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased rate of intensive care unit (ICU) stays. Intermediate care units (IMCUs) are a useful resource for the management of patients with severe COVID-19 that do not require ICU admission. In this research, we aimed to determine survival outcomes and parameters predicting mortality in patients who have been admitted to IMCU.

Evaluation of plasma soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (SuPAR) levels in ulcerative colitis.

Background And Study Aim: Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (SuPAR), a soluble form of the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor, is a biomarker produced by macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, active T cells, endothelial cells, and circulating tumor cells. SuPAR is a novel biomarker showing altered inflammation in many inflammatory diseases. This study aims to investigate the SuPAR level in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, and to evaluate the SuPAR level in active, and remission patients.

Effect of Phototherapy on Demodex Parasıte Densıty.

Background: Demodex parasites are the most common ectoparasites in humans. One of the factors in the pathogenesis of an increase in parasite density is immunosuppression. In this prospective study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of phototherapy-induced immunosuppression on Demodex density.

Diagnostic Efficacy of Ultrasonography, Doppler Ultrasonography and Elastography in the Evaluation of Suspected Malignant Lymph Nodes.

Aim: In this prospective study, the efficiency of imaging findings was investigated by comparing the histopathological results of lymph nodes with Doppler and ultrasound features and elasticity scores.

Material And Method: A total of 100 cervical or axillary lymph nodes with a suspected malignancy or whose size did not decrease after treatment were examined. In addition to the demographic data of the patients, B-mode ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound, and elastography features of the lymph nodes were evaluated prospectively.

From dyspepsia to complicated peptic ulcer: new markers in diagnosis and prognosis.

Objective: Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) may present with different clinical findings, ranging from mild dyspeptic complaints to mortal complications, such as gastrointestinal system perforation. Background: Stroke, the most feared complication in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), is still an important cause of mortality and morbidity. In our study, we aimed to investigate the frequency of stroke and related parameters in patients with atrial fibrillation, for whom 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) was performed.

Method: A total of 282 patients with permanent AF were included in this study.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there was a difference between the midline skin and the healthy skin in the lateral by means of total amount of collagen and Type I/III ratio which was the indicator of the collagen structure.

Material And Methods: Fifty patients with pilonidal sinus disease were enrolled. Samples were prepared from the midline skin of the sinus where the holes were located and lateral skin of the resected material.

Background/Aims This study aimed to determine the prevalence of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection among patients with moderate to severe active ulcerative colitis (UC) and to determine the risk factors for CMV infection according to the demographic features of these patients. Patients/Methods A total of 183 patients with severe or moderate active UC were enrolled in the study after retrospective analysis. The disease severity of UC was determined according to the Mayo Score.

Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the long-term success rates of transcanalicular endolaser dacryocystorhinostomy (TC-DCR) surgery along with the factors that possibly affect surgical success.

Methods: Patients (n = 300) who underwent unilateral TC-DCR operations in the department of ophthalmology of our university hospital between January 2011 and June 2021 were included in the study. The subjects were divided into 2 groups, with group 1 showing no recurrence (n = 205) and group 2 showing recurrence (n = 95).

Introduction: The brief rise in blood glucose level during acute physiological stress in patients with no previous symptoms of diabetes mellitus is called stress hyperglycemia.

Methods: This study is conducted with 1033 patients over the age of 18 who are diagnosed with STEMI and who did not meet the exclusion criteria for 1 year. Patients were divided into 2 groups as DM and non-DM and their blood glucose levels, demographic data (age, sex, cardiovascular risk factors, DM, HT presence/absence, history of smoking), vital signs, fatal arrhythmia requiring intervention (ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation), cardiac insufficiency development according to Killip score, length of hospital stay, mortality and cardiogenic shock conditions were evaluated.

Coexistence of Colon Perforation and Congenital Lipodystrophy.

Lipodystrophy (LD) is an acquired or congenital rare condition consisting of hyperlipidaemia, glucose intolerance/ insulin resistance, and almost complete absence and storage of adipose tissue. Colon perforations can be observed in type 4 congenital LD. Here, we aimed to present a case of sigmoid colon perforation which developed in a young woman with the diagnosis of LD.

A Case Series of Problems That Can Occur During Open Heart Surgery in Patients With COVID-19 Infection.

The utilization of open cardiac surgery on patients infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has resulted in a very challenging perioperative management method. High rates of morbidity and mortality have been documented in the literature for patients who have undergone open heart surgery while infected with COVID-19; however, data on complications that may occur during and after surgery in patients with COVID-19 infection are limited. In this article, we aimed to present the clinical course and perioperative consequences of three patients with preoperative COVID-19 infection.

Treatment of ankle varus deformity due to physeal bar formation: A case report.

Treatment of ankle deformities caused by the physeal bar after a fracture sequel is complicated. Each patient should be treated individually depending on of the severity of the deformity and bar location. We presented a case report of a successful treatment of an 11-year-old male patient with progressive varus deformity and bar formation due to trauma in the distal tibial physis.

Intrathyroidal Parathyroid Adenomas in Primary Hyperparathyroidism: Clinical and Imaging Findings.

Objectives: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a common endocrine disease. Ectopic adenomas may cause a failed surgery which results in persistence or recurrence. Intrathyroidal parathyroid adenoma (ITPA) is a rare reason for PHPT and site of ectopia.

Primary Hyperparathyroidism with Thyroid Cancer: Clinicopathologic Features.

Objectives: Concomitant thyroid disease affects almost half of the primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) patients. Pre-operative evaluation of the thyroid gland for the early diagnosis of thyroid carcinoma is essential in PHPT patients. Herein, we aim to investigate the clinicopathologic features that affect the type and extent of surgery in patients having PHPT and concomitant thyroid disease but especially thyroid cancer.
