Background And Aim: This study aimed to determine treatment outcomes and factors affecting prognosis in patients diagnosed with anal canal cancer who received radical radiotherapy (RT) or radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy (CT-RT) in radiation oncology centers in Turkey and compare the results with literature.

Material And Method: The study included 193 patients with anal canal cancer reported between 1995 and 2019, of which 162 had complete data. The study was conducted in 11 radiation oncology centers, and a joint database was shared among them.

Comparison of carotid artery ultrasound and manual method for pulse check in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Objectives: The success of the manual pulse check method frequently employed during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is controversial due to its subjective, patient- and operator-dependent, and time-consuming nature. Carotid ultrasound (c-USG) has recently emerged as an alternative, although there are still insufficient studies on the subject. The purpose of the present study was to compare the success of the manual and c-USG pulse check methods during CPR.

The aim of this study is to make a differential diagnosis and prognosis of the ampullary adenocarcinoma subtypes. We also investigated the role of prognostic markers PD-1 and PD-L1, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Local or locally advanced stage ampullary adenocarcinoma patients who had undergone pancreaticoduodenectomy at the time of diagnosis were included.

Long-term efficacy of the single-incision mini-sling procedure using surgeon-tailored mesh.

Objectives: To evaluate the long-term efficacy of a surgeon-tailored single-incision mini-sling procedure (SIMS) for the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in terms of objective cure rates, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness.

Study Design: This retrospective study included 93 women with pure SUI who underwent surgeon-tailored SIMS. All patients were evaluated with a stress cough test and quality of life questionnaire (Incontinence Impact Questionnaire [IIQ-7]) at 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, and last follow-up visit (4-7 years).

Piccolo in transcatheter PDA closure multi-centre study from premature to adolescent children.

In this multi-centre study, the mid- to long-term efficacy and safety of the Amplatzer Piccolo Occluder in patent ductus arteriosus closure in premature and term infants as well as children were discussed. Methods. Between 2016 and 2021, 645 patients, 152 of whom were less than 1 month old, underwent ductus closure with the Piccolo device from five different centres in Turkey.

Can modified Dunn radiographs be an alternative to standing AP pelvis radiographs in the evaluation of pincer femoroacetabular impingement?

The purpose of this study was to compare modified Dunn radiographs with standing anteroposterior (AP) pelvis radiographs in respect of the tilt ratio, lateral centre-edge angle (LCEA), crossover sign, crossover percentage and joint space width measurements. The study hypothesis was that modified Dunn radiographs could be an alternative method to standing AP pelvis images in the evaluation of pincer-type femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). The study included 31 patients with a mean age of 42 years (range: 29-55 years) who had modified Dunn and standing AP pelvis radiographs taken in the radiological evaluation of non-traumatic hip pain between July 2018 and September 2022.

Surgical outcomes of intraabdominal versus vaginal approach for uterine manipulation during total laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Uterine manipulation is essential for moving the uterus and proper anatomical dissection without complications during total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH). Although many different uterine manipulators (UM) have been designed in the last few decades, there is still no "optimal UM" that is universally safe, efficient, and cost-effective. Association between mannose binding lectin gene polymorphisms and clinical severity of COVID-19 in children.

Background: Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is a member of innate immunity and acts with MASP (MBL-associated serine protease) to activate the lectin pathway of the complement system. MBL gene polymorphisms are associated with susceptibility to infectious diseases. This study investigated whether MBL2 genotype, serum MBL levels, and serum MASP-2 levels affect the course of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
