Effects of Surgical Anatomical Correction of Pelvic Anterior Compartment Defect on Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of surgical anatomical correction on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in patients with a pelvic anterior compartment defect (PACD).

Methods: This prospective study was carried out on 30 women who had stage II-IV PACD. The women were questioned regarding LUTS symptoms such as urgency, urge incontinence, frequency, hesitancy, abnormal emptying, nocturia and dysuria pre and postoperatively.

Sarcoidosis is a chronic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology characterized by non-caseified granulomas in many different organs and systems. The disease most frequently manifests with bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy and infiltrations in the lungs and skin, as well as with eye lesions. It may mimic a number of systemic diseases and/or accompany them.

Platelet-rich plasma versus exchange intramedullary nailing in treatment of long bone oligotrophic nonunions.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of platelet-rich plasma on healing rates and healing time in the treatment of long bone nonunions treated by an intramedullary nail previously.

Materials And Methods: Between August 2008 and January 2012, 14 consecutive patients who were treated for long bone nonunions with percutaneous platelet-rich plasma application (PRP) were included in the study. The control group included 15 consecutive patients who were treated with exchange intramedullary nailing (EIN).

Background: Hysterectomy, the most common major gynecological operation worldwide, consists of removal of the uterus and can be performed abdominally, vaginally, or laparoscopically. A uterine manipulator is a key device used for uterine manipulation and cannulation in hysterectomies. The challenges of conventional manipulators are to move the uterus in two distinct planes and to identify cervical landmarks during circular cut and coagulation.

The aim of this cross-sectional study is to compare endometrial flushing fluid levels of αβ integrin, glycodelin and PGF2α during the midluteal phase of the menstrual cycle of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS, n = 20), myoma uteri (n = 20) and endometrioma (n = 19) with the healthy controls (n = 20). After collecting samples at the midluteal phase of ovulatory volunteers and storing them at -80 °C, αβ integrin, glycodelin and PGF2α levels were analyzed using ELISA. Conventional cytomorphologic assessment is the first step to establish an accurate diagnosis in urinary cytology. In cytologic preparations, the separation of low-grade urothelial carcinoma (LGUC) from reactive urothelial proliferation (RUP) can be exceedingly difficult. The bladder washing cytologies of 32 LGUC and 29 RUP were reviewed.

Somatosensory reflex seizures in a child with epilepsy related to novel SCN1A mutation.

Introduction: Mutations in SCN1A have been reported in patients with different types of epilepsy, including generalized epilepsy with febrile seizures plus, severe myoclonic epilepsy in infancy, malignant migrating partial seizures in infancy, and other infantile epileptic encephalopathies.

Case Report: We report a case of a 10-month-old girl presented with reflex epileptic seizures provoked by somatosensory stimuli with a novel de novo mutation of SCN1A gene. She was observed to have seizures with eye deviation, unresponsiveness provoked by somatosensory stimuli of the face.
