Uterine adenomyosis is a common disease in women of reproductive age that causes dysmenorrhea, abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, and obstetric complications. Rarely, adenomyosis can lead to abscess formation, which is refractory to antibiotics and occasionally requires surgical treatment, such as hysterectomy. However, hysterectomy should be avoided in patients who seek to preserve fertility.

Bronchial thermoplasty is the only device-based nonpharmacological treatment approach for severe asthma. Current guidelines are cautious in recommending bronchial thermoplasty because of unknown patient response prediction. Recent research on bronchial thermoplasty includes up-to-date, state-of-the-art, and recent-advances reviews.

Background: A national survey we conducted in 2008 showed that many Japanese physicians interacted with and received gifts from pharmaceutical representatives (PRs) and had a positive attitude toward relationships with PRs. The revised promotion code of the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association in 2019 prohibited the provision of non-educational promotional aids including sticky notes, mouse pads, and calendars. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, face-to-face meetings were socially restricted.

Aims: Upregulated p38 signaling is implicated in the accelerated proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PA-SMCs) and the pathogenesis of pulmonary artery remodeling observed in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Previously, we reported that after endothelin-1 (ET-1) pretreatment, bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) activates p38 signaling and accelerates PA-SMC proliferation. The activity of p38 signaling is tightly regulated by the inactivation of dual-specificity phosphatase 1 (DUSP1).

Background: Elongation of very-long-chain fatty acids protein 6 (ELOVL6), an enzyme regulating elongation of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids with C12 to C16 to those with C18, has been recently indicated to affect various immune and inflammatory responses; however, the precise process by which ELOVL6-related lipid dysregulation affects allergic airway inflammation is unclear.
Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the biological roles of ELOVL6 in allergic airway responses and investigate whether regulating lipid composition in the airways could be an alternative treatment for asthma.
Methods: Expressions of ELOVL6 and other isoforms were examined in the airways of patients who are severely asthmatic and in mouse models of asthma.

A man in his 40s with Brugada syndrome underwent catheter ablation for ventricular fibrillation. When we performed epicardial mapping again to check for residual ablation sites after ablation, a remarkable reproducible fragmented potential was observed at the anterior aspect of the right ventricle using an Advisor HD Grid (Abbott), which had not been detected during the initial mapping before ablation, and which was invisible to the ablation catheter. Fluoroscopic imaging demonstrated a shiny area anterior to the heart, suggesting trapped air, presumed to have arisen when the sheath was inserted into the pericardial space.
