A long-surviving patient with advanced esophageal basaloid squamous cell carcinoma treated only with radiotherapy: case report and literature review.

Background: Esophageal basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (EBSCC) is a rare malignant disease. Advanced EBSCC (AEBSCC) has a poorer prognosis than the more common esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, but no treatment policy has yet been established. This is the first reported case with AEBSCC treated only with radiotherapy.

A Real-World Retrospective Cohort Study of Combined Therapy with Bevacizumab and Paclitaxel in Japanese Patients with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Objective: Combined therapy with bevacizumab and paclitaxel (BP regimen) as a first-line treatment has proven highly effective with good tolerance for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). The objective of this study was to examine the efficacy and safety of the BP regimen for Japanese patients with MBC in real-world clinical settings.

Methods: From June 2012 through May 2014, we recruited 94 patients at 10 medical institutions.

A Host-Dependent Prognostic Model for Elderly Patients with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Background: Decision-making models for elderly patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) treated with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) are in great demand.

Patients And Methods: The Society of Lymphoma Treatment in Japan (SoLT-J), in collaboration with the West-Japan Hematology and Oncology Group (West-JHOG), collected and retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of ≥65-year-old patients with DLBCL treated with R-CHOP from 19 sites across Japan to build an algorithm that can stratify adherence to R-CHOP.

Results: A total of 836 patients with a median age of 74 years (range, 65-96 years) were analyzed.

[Surgical Resection of Solitary Brain Metastasis from Breast Cancer].

Background: Brain metastasis from breast cancer has a poor prognosis. For solitary cerebral metastases, surgical resection may contribute to the improvement of survival and QOL. We studied the prognosis and characteristics of solitary brain metastasis from breast cancer in patients undergoing surgical resection.
