The green profile of the developed method is assessed and compared with previously reported methods. Percutaneous coronary intervention is a procedure where a catheter is utilized to place a stent in order to facilitate opening of the blood vessels in the heart. Triple antithrombotic therapy includes oral anticoagulation as warfarin and dual antiplatelet therapy (composed of aspirin and clopidogrel bisulfate).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of double-row transscleral cyclophotocoagulation in controlling intraocular pressure in patients with secondary angle closure glaucoma due to nanophthalmos, not being controlled by medical therapy.

Patients And Methods: A prospective case series study that included 13 eyes of 8 patients diagnosed with secondary angle closure glaucoma due to nanophthalmos at the Giza Eye Subspeciality Center, treated by 24 cyclodiode applications in a double-row technique. Success was defined as complete success by control of intraocular pressure <21 mm Hg without medication and qualified success in which control of pressure <21 mm Hg achieved with 1 or 2 medications.

Modified Bilateral V-Y Rotation Advancement Flap for Coverage of Fingertip Amputations.

J Hand Surg Asian Pac Vol

December 2022

Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kasr El Aini Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt.

The use of homodigital antegrade flow flaps is an appealing option for coverage of fingertip injuries with exposed bone as it provides good padding, sensation and colour match with no need for splinting or secondary procedure for flap separation. V-Y flaps presented by Atasoy and Kutler have limited ability of distal advancement. We used two separate V flaps each based on a separate neuro-vascular bundle to allow better advancement while keeping good vascularity and sensation.

Circulating Levels of Hypoxia-regulating MicroRNAs in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients with Hemolytic Anemia.

Curr Med Sci

December 2022

Molecular Biology Department, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute (GEBRI), Sadat City University, Sadat City, 32897, Egypt.

Objective: MicroRNAs are fine regulators for gene expression during the post-transcriptional stage in many autoimmune diseases. HypoxamiRs (miR-210 and miR-21) play an important role in hypoxia and in inflammation-associated hypoxia. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease that would potentiate many pathological complications, including hemolytic anemia.

Purpose: To study the effect of coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) on retinal vasculature by Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA).

Methods: Macular OCTA images of patients recovered from COVID-19 infections were studied including foveal avascular zone (FAZ), capillary vascular densities (CVD) of the superficial and deep capillary network (SCP, DCP), and central foveal thickness (CFT).

Results: The FAZ area was significantly larger in post COVID-19 cases compared to the healthy controls (p=0.

Background: Extradural transcranial release of the meningo-orbital band occupying the lateral part of the superior orbital fissure is used to approach the orbital apex and middle cranial fossa. The authors tested the feasibility of the release of the meningo-orbital band via an endonasal transmaxillary approach.

Materials And Methods: Five injected cadaveric heads were assessed for dimensions of superior orbital fissure by computerized tomography.

Purpose: To compare anatomical outcomes, functional outcomes, and rate of complications of standard scleral buckling (SSB) versus chandelier-assisted scleral buckling (CSB) in phakic eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to either SSB or CSB. Surgical success/failure rate, corrected distance visual acuity, surgical operating time, and rate of intraoperative and postoperative complications including epiretinal membranes by spectral domain optical coherence tomography were compared between groups.

Correlation of myomir-206 and proinflammatory cytokines (IL-16 and IL-17) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Reumatologia

April 2019

Molecular Biology Department, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute (GEBRI), University of Sadat City, Egypt.

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a persistent autoimmune disease in which the activity of proinflammatory cytokines and the imbalance, related to the inflammatory process, between elements of bone tissue remodeling such as osteoclasts and osteoblasts play a key role in development of erosions and bone destruction. MicroRNAs are important regulators of skeletal remodeling and are involved in RA pathogenesis. Myomir-206 (miR-206) is unrivalled among the myomirRs, where it is expressed in skeletal muscle and either absent or minimally expressed in other tissues.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a topical prednisolone acetate 1% test in diagnosing potential steroid-induced ocular hypertension (SIOH) before administering intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide.
  • Conducted at Kasr El Aini Hospital, the study randomly assigned 66 patients into two groups: one receiving the prednisolone test and the other proceeding without it, measuring intraocular pressures weekly for four weeks.
  • Results indicated that the group tested with prednisolone acetate had a significantly lower risk of developing SIOH compared to the non-tested group (31.25% vs. 54.2%), suggesting this test could effectively predict SIOH risks.

End-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients have been associated with accelerated vascular disease of the cerebral circulation due to uremic toxins. Furthermore, anemia increases cerebral oxygen extraction fraction which impairs the cerebral vasodilatory capacity. We evaluated the effect of correction of anemia on cerebral blood flow by measuring the mean blood flow velocity, resistance index (RI), and pulsatility index (PI) in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) in relation to cognitive functions.
