Aims: Early detection of retinal microangiopathy in patients with prediabetes may reduce diabetic retinopathy complications. The aim of this study was to assess early macular vascular changes in prediabetics before development of over diabetes using OCTA and fundus photography.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 66 prediabetic individuals and 66 normal controls underwent clinical, laboratory, and fundus photography evaluation followed by OCTA macular imaging to examine for the foveal avascular zone, and area of capillary non-perfusion, thickness, disorganization of vessels, and vessel density perfusion percentage of superficial capillary plexus and deep capillary plexus.

Objective: To evaluate the interobserver agreement for the features of natal cleft pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and propose a standardized checklist for reporting PSD on MRI.
Materials And Methods: Forty MRI studies of 39 discrete patients with PSD were retrospectively evaluated by five independent radiologists using a standardized checklist. Fleiss' Kappa (k) coefficients of agreement were used to test the agreement between categorical variables.

Purpose: To evaluate autologous fat grafts harvested from the abdomen versus the thigh for treating the enophthalmic socket using CT volumetry.
Methods: A randomized prospective interventional study including 20 patients suffering from unilateral enophthalmic socket. Pre-operative clinical assessment included photographs, exophthalmometry reading as well as CT volumetry for volume deficit calculations and the harvesting site was randomly allocated (abdomen or thigh).

Introduction: PEACE MENA (Program for the Evaluation and Management of Cardiac Events in the Middle East and North Africa) is a prospective registry in Arab countries for in-patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) or acute heart failure (AHF). Here, we report the baseline characteristics and outcomes of in-patients with AHF who were enrolled during the first 14 months of the recruitment phase.
Methods: A prospective, multi-centre, multi-country study including patients hospitalized with AHF was conducted.

Introduction: Chronic immune thrombocytopenia (cITP) is characterized by dysregulation of the immune response. Until recently, the role of Th2-related cytokine gene polymorphisms was unclear. Interleukin 4 (IL-4) exerts its functions by binding to three types of IL-4 receptor (IL-4R) complexes.

The main aim of this study was to assess the expression level of circulating long non-coding RNA maternally expressed gene 3 (lncRNA-MEG3), microRNA (miR-125a-5P), the chemokine C-X-C motif ligand13 (CXCL13), and the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB) in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) cases and to study its relation to the disease severity and treatment response. This case-control study included 45 patients newly diagnosed as ITP and 45 healthy subjects. We assessed complete blood count, antinuclear antibodies, hepatitis B and C virus serology, lncRNA-MEG3, miR-125a-5P, and CXCL13 expression in serum by real-time PCR and NF-kb protein by ELISA.

Background: Driver molecular aberrations, such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene rearrangement, play an important role in the oncogenesis and progression of non-squamous non-small-cell lung cancers (NSCLC). Therefore, this study aimed to detect the incidence of driver mutations among non-squamous NSCLC.
Patients And Methods: This was a retrospective-prospective cohort study on 131 patients with non-squamous NSCLC.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the value of laser acupuncture (LA) on forearm bone mineral density (BMD) and wrist pain in osteoporotic postmenopausal women.
Methods: Sixty-eight postmenopausal women diagnosed with osteoporosis were randomly allocated equally to one of two sets. The drug-only group received calcium and vitamin D 3 supplement containing fluoride daily for 12 weeks, whereas the drug/LA group received LA therapy for 20 minutes per session, three sessions weekly, in addition to the same supplementation.

COVID-19 patients also present with rheumatological problems, cardiac problems, and even neurological manifestations. However, the data are still insufficient at present to fill the gaps in our understanding of the neurological presentations of COVID-19. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to reveal the various neurological manifestations of patients with COVID-19 and to find the association between neurological manifestations and the clinical outcome.

Background: Allograft artery-infected pseudoaneurysm (PA) represents a rare but life-threatening complication of kidney transplantation (KT). A review of the literature, showed that nearly all these cases ended resulted in graft loss. We presented a case of post-KT-infected external iliac artery anastomotic PA successfully managed by endovascular stenting with graft preservation.

Different arthroscopic repair techniques have been described for various tear types. Several series have reported successful outcomes for arthroscopic repair of superficial tear of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears using the outside-in technique. Described techniques entail usage of special instruments for passage of sutures and/or use of many incisions.

Introduction: To compare sutureless deep sclerectomy to conventional deep sclerectomy regarding their lowering effect on intraocular pressure (IOP) in cases with open-angle glaucoma.
Methods: This is a prospective interventional randomized comparative study that included 60 eyes of 50 patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG) who were indicated for surgical intervention. Patients were recruited from the glaucoma subspecialty clinic of the Cairo University teaching hospital and were divided into two groups: group A (underwent sutureless deep sclerectomy) and group B (underwent conventional deep sclerectomy).

We studied the effect of menopause with subsequent estrogen drop on optic nerve head structure and peripapillary vasculature. This cross-sectional analytic study was carried out on 100 eyes of 100 patients; patients were divided into a premenopausal group (50 eyes) and a postmenopausal group (50 eyes). Optical coherence tomography was done to evaluate retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to assess the peripapillary capillary vessel density.

Background: PACK-CXL (photo-activated chromophore for keratitis-corneal cross-linking) is an alternative option in treatment of corneal infections. It inhibits corneal melting by increasing the stromal resistance, besides the microbicidal effect of photo-activated riboflavin.
Methods: Corneal infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staph aureus bacteria was induced in 20 eyes of 10 rabbits after 6 weeks of corneal cross-linking in half of the eyes, while the other acted as control group.

Proteus syndrome is an extremely rare condition, characterized by progressive asymmetric overgrowth of multiple body tissues. Here, we present two cases of Proteus syndrome demonstrating typical clinical and radiological features of Proteus syndrome, in addition to an uncommon fibrolipomatous hamartoma of the sciatic nerve. The first case is a 5-year-old girl who presented with seizures.
